Zika Virus - still a thing?

So I found out yesterday I am pregnant with my 2nd child. Its a wonderful surprise but not great timing!

We are due to fly to Antigua in 3 weeks to scatter my parents ashes on their favourite beach.

My question is, is Zika virus still a worry? Searching online it looks like there's no current outbreaks so I wonder if it'll be safe to go as long as I take lots of precautions with mosquitos?

I've got a call into my GP for some advice but I thought I'd ask on here if anyone has been through similar recently?

Thanks everyone 🙂

Thanks, I've read all of this but it does say no current outbreaks.

Usually I wouldn't take the risk for a holiday but it's a family holiday to scatter my parents ashes on their favourite beach as they both passed away while I was pregnant with my first.

I've looked into private testing and I think I may go down that route if we choose to go

I don’t have anything useful to add other than to say it’s really confusing and I feel your pain. I did lots of research as we are travelling to a Zika risk country and I couldn’t find any up to date stats, everywhere seems to state no current zika outbreaks but places are still a risk.

The best advice I found (and it might have been on here) was from someone who lives in a Zika risk country saying something along the lines of “people here are having healthy babies, we just take precautions. Long sleeved clothes and use locally purchased mosquito repellent”

I also found something on the NHS about testing protocol for Zika risk so I think there may be an option to test if you talk to them about it.

Interestingly I’ve had my booking appointment and wasn’t asked about travel/zika countries. We were in Indonesia 3 months before conceiving.
