I’m starting to get worried! Very nauseous, 8 weeks pregnant, due to start new teaching job in two weeks. I’ll literally be running down to the toilets to be sick! 🤔😫 How have others managed?

It was horrible, I remember it well! I did have to dash off a few times to be sick in the children’s toilets -luckily I had a very good TA who I had told. It’s so hard-you feel at your worst before anyone knows!

My lovely admin lady always had a pack of arrowroot or ginger biscuits for me to take one from!

Thanks both. I won’t have a TA, so I’m a bit worried about dashing off. Will be an interesting few weeks

I’d say rest as much as you can now before the new job. Be kind to yourself- try not to let yourself get tired, hungry, thirsty but to act to prevent it. Tricky once at work I know. You may find distraction and movement takes your mind off it compared to sitting at a desk, marking and admin type tasks- I did. It may help to know that actually throwing up is unlikely to relieve the nausea, so it may be more helpful to try very hard not to- being nauseous but hydrated is probably better than nauseous and dehydrated. But you may also find it impossible to tough it out if you are constantly throwing up, and if so that’s ok too. You’ll get through it.

I found being sick did temporarily relieve my nausea.

Ended up having to take medication.

Not a teacher but worked in care.

Having enough protein helped, used to force myself to eat scrambled eggs.

Hope for your sake the nausea goes away. Must be really hard not being able to just nip to the loo whenever you need to.
