Early pregnancy and fibroids

Hello! ☺️

I’m 8 weeks tomorrow, and have a fibroid that is about 8cm. I’ve had three scans, one accidentally right at the very start, a bit less than 4 weeks because I was having a scan to check the fibroid and my ovaries/womb after a mmc at the end of July, turned out the start of a pregnancy was there! I had another scan 2 weeks later and again 2 weeks after that.

They aren’t too worried about the fibroid, just going to keep an eye on it, and it’s away from the pregnancy, the thing is, I can feel it so easily!! It literally pokes right out in the mornings, and I feel so bloated and big. I’m normally fairly slim, but not anymore and I know it’s too early to be showing really.

I was just wondering if anyone else has had a similar sized fibroid early on and if it made you look further along? And if it did, could you tell when what you could feel was baby and not fibroid? I don’t want to miss feeling my baby for the first time because of my big lump of a fibroid! 🤦🏻‍♀️☺️

Thank you ladies! X

Many women with fibroids do experience a more noticeable bump early on, and it can make them appear further along than they actually are. As your pregnancy progresses, you'll likely be able to distinguish between your baby's movements and the sensation of the fibroid. Your baby's movements tend to feel like flutters or gentle taps, while the fibroid may feel like a firmer, more stationary lump.
