New mole during pregnancy

Hi
I have been to my Dr to get a mole checked out and they said it looked fine and it was more than likely due to pregnancy hormones . I hadn't had it before. I'm 9 weeks now. They said shape size and colour looked fine, but any major changes to come back . Doesn't stop me worrying and I think the fact it's on my chest and i have to look at it all day doesn't help. Anyone have anything similar in pregnancy? It's well under 1/4 of an inch so it's not overly big. Thanks

It's really common to get new moles in pregnancy- even listed on the NHS website as a side effect of pregnancy along with other skin discolourations. I got loads in my first pregnancy. They don't go away unfortunately, at least mine didn't.

By all means you can go and show them to your gp but unless they have the attributes of a suspicious mole they won't refer you to dermatology.

I got so many, and one even seemed to be itchy (but itchy skin is just a pregnancy thing) so they did refer me to dermatology for that one. Dermatology checked me all over, said they looked normal. They did remove the oddest one which turned out to be normal.

In my second pregnancy I don't seem to be getting as many new ones but maybe that's just because I'm already covered in them from my last pregnancy!

Thanks for reply. Yes they didn't seem concerned but since I will have to go back to the gp regularly il just bring it up again anyway to be sure . I have awful health anxiety so hate things like this . Thanks

Ps it's not ugly at all, if you needed reassuring about that! If you're only 9w you may get many more by the end so might as well learn to love them :)

Yes, I had existing one which grew in pregnancy slightly and continued afterwards. There's an app you can use to keep an eye on it. But in your position I'd seek a second opinion

I've always had a few moles but honestly I've got so many more in the last few weeks of pregnancy.

The only time I've been to the GP about my moles historically was when a couple grew rapidly in size, were uneven and had a couple of shades in them, which can be signs of something more serious. But they were nothing! If worried talk to gp but mole growth is really common in pregnancy.

Due to pregnancy I'd seek to get confirmation, mine was darker, larger, had raised parts and irregular edges. But I would still 100% get it checked as you can't be too sure.

Thanks . Tbh I would like to be referred to a dermatologist regardless . I have alot of moles and prob should get them checked regularly anyway
