Is nub theory worth taking into account?

This is my 12+6 scan today, looks very very 'boy' according to all of my reading but I'm wondering whether to take any notice or if there's something to it?

Is nub theory worth taking into account?

Nub theory is very accurate as long as you know what you’re looking at and have a clear image.

noaddedsugarx · 04/10/2023 19:48

Yeah I think it’s pretty accurate. Especially when the nub appears boyish it’s more likely to be a boy.

My 12 week scan had a ‘boy nub’ and I’ve been told by so many people they’re 99% sure it’s a boy. We’ve got a gender scan booked but I’m wondering if there’s any point as everyone seems so confident 🤣

A family member paid for her nub to be looked at. It was wrong.

I got told the nub theory isn't a theory after 12 weeks, it's literally part of the way the sonographer identifies the sex

RoomTetris · 04/10/2023 19:59

I don't think that's the nub imaged there, it's too low down.

I think the nub theory can mostly be accurate if it’s done by people who know what they’re looking at and where things should be . My 12 week scan suggested girl and lo and behold I’m having a girl. I’m sure I read it’s not a theory and it is scientifically proven x

It’s 50/50, so of course predictions are going to be correct some of the time.

FlyingHighFlyingLow · 06/10/2023 19:52

Lots of people thought my nub was a girl nub. Baby has since had zero shyness in showing off his boy parts 😂

Every single old wives tale, nub theory, calender prediction thing all said girl too!

It's 50/50 so I guess it will be right a solid 50% of the time 😅

Load of old bollocks. Just wait three weeks and you can find out for sure. Or get a blood test.

LemonLight · 06/10/2023 21:33

We asked our sonographer to give us their prediction based on nub theory at 12 weeks. We took it with a pinch of salt but have had two more scans since to confirm it was correct. I'd trust a sonographer but don't think anyone could tell.
