Under rib discomfort - first trimester

I am not sure if this is normal or not, as I never had it with my DD, but I am about 6 weeks pregnant with #2 and now and again I get a weird twinge/discomfort pain just below my ribs. Its sometimes on the left or the middle, but mainly on the right hand side. Dr google is telling me that pain can indicate pre-eclampsia but isn't usually until the second trimester.

It's not unbearable, or constant. I know everything is stretching and pulling down there, but its the location that I find odd. I didn't have pre-eclampsia in my first pregnancy or have high BP in general, my BP is usually on the lower end of average.

Not really sure what I am asking, other than I guess if anyone knows what this is or has had it before? Not due to see the midwife until the booking appointment in two weeks time.

I'd go to see your GP, I'm not a medical expert but that could be your gallbladder.

I had that with low iron!

I had this in pregnancy, worried about pre-eclampsia, got checked, assumed it was 'rib flare' or baby in a weird position.

6 years later and 20/20 hindsight, it was the start of my gallbladder issues.

I get trapped wind pain under my ribs; horribly uncomfortable.

Yes I also had this on my left side under my rib when I was about 6 weeks! Never got to the bottom of it, only lasted around a week or 2 on and off but I’m 14 weeks now and all is fine 😊
