Is this a bloody show? Sweep at 38+4

Hi everyone, I'm a FTM and had a sweep at 38+4 today, it only lasted about 30 seconds but I've been bleeding ever since with cramps
I was 1cm dilated with a soft cervix and she said it was ripening well
I'm hoping this is the start of things, but obviously I have no idea what to expect! What are everyone's experiences with sweeps at 38/39 weeks? Did they work?
Also, I've attached a picture of a 'show' I hope??? I'm not sure what to expect or if it is, is this just a normal clot or is it the mucus show? TMI for the pic

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

My sweep at 39 weeks worked, my cervix was 1cm but very long and posterior so was told it was unlikely to do anything! It took a few days of early Labour to get there though. I personally phoned triage as was told bright red blood with clots needed to be checked out in case I needed Anti D. I didn’t need it in the end but might be worth calling to double check that the blood isn’t concerning! My bloody show had more discharge/mucus plug in tho! xx

It could be a sign that labour is on the way, but it could still be days away.
Cramping is a good sign that something is happening, but if you lose any more blood than the photo you’ve posted I’d get checked out just to be on the safe side.

I didn’t have a sweep until 40+2 but I had similar to the photo and cramping all day on and off (sweep was at 1pm and I was 2cm dilated), at 9:30pm cramping started again but was actually contractions…had DD at 2:30am!
That was my second baby though and both my labours were quite short!

No, that looks like a big blood clot. My "bloody show" was a very obvious big plug of mucus mainly orange with small streaks of red. I had that pass around 11pm and went into the start of labour 12 hours later.

Bring a first time mum at this point you're likely to have a while on your hands. Baby wont come until they're ready. Sweeps aren’t exactly conducive. If you go too far over you'll be often induction. I’m surprised you were given a sweep at this point.
As for my post above I was 41+1 when I had the show. No sweep.

@SunflowerCapricorn1998 I had the sweep on a Wednesday afternoon, no pain until Thursday afternoon where it felt like mild period cramps in my back and a tightening round the front, I didn’t think I was in Labour then. The pains got bad by Thursday evening and were the same really until she was born on Saturday xx

That doesn’t look like a show to me, more of a blood clot. I’d get hat checked by your midwife
