17 weeks, UTI, no symptoms

Hello all, just wondering if anyone's had any similar experiences please.
Last week I went to get checked for a tiny amount of pink spotting, they thoroughly checked me, no cause for it was found. They did 2 urine tests, one with the quick strip (the one that kinda looks like a pregnancy test where they compare the colour to a graph?) and another one they sent to the lab.

I just got a call from my MW telling me that it came back showing a UTI and I need to go pick up a course of antibiotics. What blows my mind is that I have absolutely no symptoms and, believe me, I can recognize a UTI when I have one! I wonder if perhaps the spotting from last week might have been that, but it cleared up by itself within literally 2 hours so not sure what to think at this point.

I'm obviously going to take the antibiotics as a precaution but did this happen to any of you? Thanks in advance!

I had a uti picked up in my urine sample at 12 week scan which was sent off to have analysis on but as I had no symptoms they didn’t contact me to pick up antibiotics to take.

It could have been the reason for the spotting - could you ask your midwife?

x

I'm thinking it might be, but it feels like it's cleared out now. I'll still take it just to be on the safe side, it just feels weird cause I've suffered from very bad UTIs before. I'll ring the MW tomorrow x

Hey I had this too when pregnant with my DS, think it was a bit later in the pregnancy though. No symptoms and went for something unrelated. My GP told me at the time that they don’t give antibiotics unless complaining of symptoms so I didn’t get any xx

I was given antibiotics which I've already started but 0 symptoms like I said.. so weird. I wonder how long I've had it for and if it may have caused issues to baby in case I left it too long? But I'd imagine if that were the case it would have turned into a full blown UTI, no?

@EllaChloe I would imagine for it to even potentially harm your baby it would have to be a full blown UTI like you say or a more serious perhaps kidney infection which you would definitely have the tell tale signs of, a lot of pain, vomiting, temperature etc so I would think if it was dangerous for you or baby you would feel display symptoms. If it was dangerous they would treat all cases even asymptomatic so I wouldn’t worry whatsoever. x

Thank you @Kilminchy123 I appreciate the reassurance 🙂
