Pregnancy test getting lighter 11 weeks 2 days

so I last did a pregnancy test around 8 weeks and the line was super dark, darker than the control line. I had a scan at 9 weeks 4 days and everything was fine. Today I woke up and I decided I will take the other test out the box I took at 8 weeks just out of curiosity and the test line is lighter than it was at 8 weeks it’s still a positive line it’s not faint to the point you can hardly see it but it’s a lot lighter. Should I be worried or is this normal for 11 weeks 2 days??

Here is a picture of the test I took today as you can see it’s lighter than the control line now

google the ‘hook effect’, its when hcg is so high it overwhelms the test. This happened to me, my dye steelers became a non dye steelers, so I diluted my urine with water and retested and got a dye steeler back! Top test is full urine, bottom is diluted with water.

I think it's that the pregnancy test is a test for hCG level which climbs during the first 8-10 weeks of pregnancy and then naturally declines.

I don't think it's anything to worry about but maybe ask your midwife if you're concerned.

Definitely could be the hook effect.

ASGIRC · 03/10/2023 14:58

hCG levels peak at 10 weeks, and then start declining.
It can also be hook effect.

You really shouldnt be taking pregnancy tests at 11 weeks! They are not accurate!

Just curious your outcome @Jaydexx

Pregnancy tests tell you absolutely zero other information other than confirmation that you are pregnant surely.

I don’t quite understand why you would do any further tests after an initial test to confirm that you are indeed pregnant.

What am I missing?

Hook effect. Mix with water it’ll go back to dark. I got to a point where I literally was mixing a drop of pee with half a tumbler of water. I’m was a poas addict as you can tell

Dodds87 · 20/12/2023 00:39

@toomanyleggings me too im a poas addict. I'm having the same issue at 10 weeks faint line but dark when diluted.
It really freaked me out since I don't think my hcg levels are so high. Only 8000 at week 7 but hoping for the best and it's just the test is overwhelmed. Having had miscarriages before it's so terrifying thinking its getting lighter due to maybe a miscarriage

TheZanyUmberLurker · 04/07/2024 08:57

I'm having the same issue
