If you tried for a VBAC…

Were you successful?
What were your reasons for a previous c-section?

We’re aiming to TTC baby number 2 early next year and I’m desperate to try for a VBAC. Read through my notes after my cat. 2 EMCS (obstructed labour) and they state I’d be suitable for a VBAC next time.

If you managed one, do you think you did anything differently/any advice to give me the best chance?

If you didn’t, do you know why? How did you feel about it after?

I’ve suffered with birth trauma after DD was born and don’t want to start TTC until I’ve got everything clear in my mind and I’d be in the right place mentally to have another section if I needed to, so I’m trying to do as much research as possible before that!

Dc1 got stuck with large head facing to the left so couldn't be rotated, day 4 of induction. Emergency section. To this day, after lots research I think the induction process was partly to blame.

Vbac with second very successful, refused drip induction, had a foley Catheter induction and dc2 was born within 16 hours of its insertion! Completely different experience less than 2 years later.

Yes, several times. I had an elective CS for breech with my first baby, made a bit of a dog's dinner of the first VBAC (forceps, undiagnosed third degree tear) but subsequent births were straightforward.

I had an 'emergency' CS after no progression. She was just in the complete wrong position and everything came to a stand still. Second time around, I went in much more informed and did hypnobirthing with The Positive Birthing Company and I had a very successful (and fast!) VBAC.

Don’t assume your births will be the same. Mine were so different I may as well have been a different person.

Dd1 waters broke suddenly then nothing / induced / painful labour / didn’t progress / emergency c section. Whole thing over 2 days.

Dd2 felt pains 6am quick labour born naturally by 12 noon. Didn’t plan anything just happened.

DD was in a shit position (deep transverse arrest and asynclitic) and after pushing for hours, attempted ventouse and manual rotation, her heart rate plummeted dangerously and I haemorrhaged. EMCS. I was v traumatised.

Tried for a VBAC. 38hr labour second time round and DS wouldn't descend so had another emcs.

I tried everything to get it to work. Hypnobirthing, yoga, optimum positioning etc.
