FTM here with a December baby. I am wondering what do I need to keep the baby warm in the carrycot when we go out during those early months. For a bit of context, we live in London and don't have a car so will be either walking around/ using the public transport.

I am not sure if the footmuff is generally for use inside the cot or for later when the baby can sit in the stroller?

Vest+sleepsuit+ star wrap with hats will be enough when putting the baby in the cot? or will I need a footmuff? Pram suit? Sleep bag? Blankets?

Forgot to say the pushchair I've bought didn't come with a footmuff in a bundle, so just want to know if I need to buy that separatley now?

I never used the foot muff in the carry cot, only ever in the stroller. I would get a pram suit or two for when it's especially cold. They keep baby warmer than the star wrap although star wrap is good too!

I wouldn’t buy a pram suit. They boil every time you go inside shop, cafe, bus, etc

Buy a carrycot sheepskin liner.
Dress baby in normal clothes like vest and sleepsuit then add thick cardigan. Hat, thick socks or booties, thin wool mittens. Can add star wrap if you have one or just layer up blankets. Thinner wool and thicker one onto. Can remove one or both blankets as needed.

A December baby will be in carrycot flat until end of winter. In March/ April. So wit and buy pram footmuff for main seat the following Autumn once they are sitting up

I don’t think a sleepsuit and starwrap would be enough. I used one with my DD but more in spring time not winter.
My previous DC was about 5 months at the start of winter last time so she was always in a long sleeve vest, outfit or sleepsuit, cardigan, pramsuit and blanket with a footmuff and hat.
Im due in December and baby will be in a long sleeve vest, sleepsuit, cardigan, fluffy pramsuit and heavy blanket in the carry cot.
It takes 2 seconds to unzip a pramsuit if you’re going to sit in a cafe Imo.

Foot muff for stroller. I'd buy a pramsuit if you're going to be outside for extended periods of time or Swaddle in a blanket and hat.

Star wrap plus a blanket. Star wraps are so much easier than pram suits, although I did have both. Pram suits are v easy to get second hand as new, given the baby is just lying flat in them so they don't get ruined! We got given so many blankets as presents too.
I
still use the stroller part of the travel system for my 2 year old (as I did for my older child before her) and always use the footmuff in winter.
