Hello I am just posting on here because I am 17 and have recently found out I'm pregnant. I'm scheduled to have an abortion and I'm terrified as I am severely emetophobic and I am scared it will make me I'll

I’ve had a few friends who’s had abortions under 12 weeks with the pills over 2 days. None of them have vomited. I understand it is a really scary time especially with your worry of being sick but it is not a common side effect of the abortion pill. I hope that helps you a little bit.

@Butterflyxx2 it could also be worth asking your doctor if they could give you some anti sickness medication as well.

satellitesunshine · 26/09/2023 20:01

i had a surgical so not the same as the pill but mine didn’t make me sick, you could ask for anti-sickness meds as well if that would help? it shouldn’t cause sickness though. hope you’re okay x

I did try asking for a surgical but I feel like I am not being listened to they said I'm too early or something to have one and I feel like that's the only option I feel is right for me x

@Butterflyxx2 I had a medical termination at 23. I was 6 weeks pregnant. Stay in bed a few days, have people to care for you.
For me, I took the pills and then 4-5 hours later, vomited and then the pregnancy passed on the toilet. I was upset at the time, but the next day felt okay. It was like a bad period following that.
Make sure they give you codeine or something stronger than normal painkillers.

Emotionally I was upset for a few weeks but to be honest it was a weight off my mind. I'm now 30, still with the same partner and we are very happy. I don't regret the abortion for one minute and know it was the right thing to do.

Hope you're okay and you'll get through it. X

@Butterflyxx2 how many weeks are you if you don’t mind me asking? to be totally honest i think they’re doing the right thing - i only had a surgical as i have bad asthma and the pill can trigger it, i found the surgery quite traumatising so if they’re saying you can take the pill i really would reccomend not trying to change their mind

Honestly sounds like a lot I'm proud of you for getting through that. Did they give you any anti sickness medicine at the time? X

@Butterflyxx2 they didn't no, but this was through bpas 7 years ago so things might have changed.
Just want to reassure you that things work out okay and it was the right decision for me.

Okay, yes 100% I'm glad things worked out that's reassuring to know, feels like I'm stuck at the moment but talking really helps me x

Both times it was just like a heavy period. Totally manageable. I got prescribed codeine but didn't end up taking it all. If you have any questions please feel free to ask x
