You are absolutly fine to lift him.. you can't avoid it! I wouldn't carry him around but lifting a toddler is fine! Mine was 3 at the end of my pregnancy and I still had to lift my 4 year old out of the top bunk over the railing to toilet him at night..

Also My mohter had this thing 'don't lift your arms above your head.. it wraps the babies cord round its neck'
As long aas you feel strong enough to do something..

Unless you have a bad back or SPD, it;s fine to lift your DC. BUT, it is worth getting him to go up the stairs himself etc as when you get further on, you will find it harder - apart from anything else, the bump gets in the way.

I have a 3 year old and a 1 year old and need to lift them alot. LOL at your mum saying you shouldn't be lifting him - Chance would be a fine thing, eh?

Try to carry him cuddled in close to you and in front, not on your hip. I found it got easier as I got larger, because I would naturally slot my ds on top of my bump. He was 27m when dd was born. I had SPD so carrie dhim as little as possible, but it's very hard to avoid carrying the toddler.

If it's for affection, rather than practicality, then sit down and invite him to come into your lap for a cuddle, rather than carrying him and getting on with things.
