Hi I usually buy flushable wipes

Lillybobs86 · 22/09/2023 17:22

I bought the flushable wipes but worried now if there safe if baby wipes aren't 🤔

Sammi89 · 22/09/2023 17:23

Wait baby wipes aren’t safe? But I use baby wipes on my baby

Needmorelego · 22/09/2023 17:27

I think they mean don't flush them down the loo just put them in the bin instead.
I've been known to have an entire body wash with babywipes (ahh....joys of camping!!)

trevthecat · 22/09/2023 17:27

Unsafe in what way?
If its flushing them, no you should not do that, even so called flushable wipes shouldn't be flushed

Findyourneutralspace · 22/09/2023 17:28

You’re not supposed to use baby wipes because they clog the drains.

rbe78 · 22/09/2023 17:34

The reason people are saying using wipes after the loo is bad is beacuse flushing them clogs the drain system, not because they're dangerous to you.

Even wipes that are labelled 'flushable' really shouldn't be flushed. Generally all that 'flushable' means is that they probably won't clog up your own pipes, but they still cause huge problems in the sewage system further down the line.

@Mummytobe0824 Try using a tissue spritz instead - you just spray it on your loo roll and use it like a wipe.
e.g.
Tissue Spritz

Thankyou Everyone I just read that using wipes messes with your PH especially while pregnant and can cause bacterial vaginosis and thrush etc so was panicking a little has anyone else used baby wipes while pregnant I just presumed as obviously we clean babies with these x

They're fine on babies but the vagina is self cleaning and certain things upset the ph balance. Skin is not the same so they are fine for skin. Maybe try Huggies Pue which are just water? Obviously don't flush them.

dementedpixie · 22/09/2023 18:33

Why are you panicking if you have no signs of BV or Thrush?

Why are you using wipes after a pee anyway?
I understand after a poo to get cleaner but can't see why you would after peeing.

And always bin wipes rather than flushing them

Whataretheodds · 23/09/2023 13:19

Just use water wipes if you must? And then bin them.
