Did I have a miscarriage? TW: *GRAPHIC*

I am/was about 6.3 weeks Pregnant and yesterday morning, I woke up to very light tainted discharge.

I could smell the blood and iron and knew full on bleeding would ensue. The bleeding tapered off and I was left with a little hope.

This morning, as I stood up, I felt more of a gush and knew something was wrong, yet again.I laid in bed and felt, what could only be described as, awful terrible period pains from hell coming in waves. I clutched my tummy knowing that this could never be a good sign. The baby can't survive this pain. And neither can I! I might pass out.

I decided to get into the shower and sit on the floor and sobbed while I awaited this baby to pass out. Tiny little 1mm blood clots left me and then one large "clot" (?) made its way out into my palm.

I scooped it in and studied it. What is it? Is it the baby? I see the grey matter akin to miscarriages and started crying uncontrollably.

Is it my baby?

I can’t say for sure but maybe contact the early pregnancy unit

TheShellBeach · 22/09/2023 15:42

I'm sorry, it does look like it.
I think it would be best for you to contact EPU for advice.

PickledScrump · 22/09/2023 16:01

It looks like it could be a decidual cast which is where the whole uterus lining comes away in one go. At 6 weeks baby is really tiny still, about the size of a pea. I think they can happen in ectopic pregnancies so I would definitely get in touch with epu for advice

TheShellBeach · 22/09/2023 16:05

I agree that it looks like a decidual cast.

sashastuck · 22/09/2023 16:23

Really sorry to hear what you’ve experienced xxx

Emilia35 · 22/09/2023 16:32

That's too large to be the baby. I would contact EPU and take the clot with you so it can be examined. At 6 weeks you wouldn't see anything recognizable as everything is too small and the pregnancy is likely to have stopped progressing even earlier than this. Really sorry you're going through this.

I had an awful MMC in March 2022 and am now holding my 3 month old. It'll happen for you too. Wishing you all the best.

MystikaZA · 22/09/2023 23:53

Oh my God, I didn't even think it could be a decidual cast as they're usually triangular shaped. I did, however, suspect ectopic pregnancy at the beginning when I found out due to left sided pain and slow rising HCG. I'm feeling a bit too weak to get up right now, but will go to the hospital in the morning.

Does this mean that the ectopic pregnancy might still be developing elsewhere despite the decidual cast expelling from me? 😢

I'm so sorry for your loss and glad that you had your rainbow baby 🥰

I also did think this tissue was too big as I should be between 6.3 to 7.3 weeks along. I haven't even had my first scan yet, which is due only in a weeks time.

I had just assumed it was the baby because of the fleshy feeling and grayish matter. I'm actually now at a loss as to what on Earth it could be.

Hi OP. Yes, you could still have an ectopic pregnancy.
How are you today? Have you been to hospital?
I'm so sorry this has happened to you.

I got pregnant right after a miscarriage and had my daughter, so don't give up hope.

MystikaZA · 23/09/2023 17:06

Thank you for your kind words 💗

I feel a lot better today, cramping has stopped entirely and I have residual watery blood. Very minimal. Nothing at all of what I was expecting a miscarriage to feel like. A few drops at best on my pad.

I've not been to the doc yet 😢 I did give him a call and he said to be on bed rest and monitor the bleeding. Come in if it becomes painful or excessive. I do have my first scan scheduled already and coming up in a few days, so decided to wait until then.

Although, the possibility of an Ectopic does mean I have to go in sooner. I'm just feeling so emotionally drained 😣 right now as I type, I do feel a pressure in my left side around my ovarian area. Which, I attributed to growing pains or corpus luteum cyst. Now I'm just thinking ectopic 😓

I hope it's good news but when I mc I felt a gush and I had same looking thing coming out. I keep my fingers crossed you end up having better news. 🤞🏼

MystikaZA · 24/09/2023 08:51

Thank you 🥺 there appears to be no fetal issue expelled and I've stopped cramping and bleeding so it is probably an incomplete miscarriage. Will update when I have any confirmation
