20 week scan - can they write down the gender?

I've been told that they aren't allowed to write down the gender anymore. Is this true??? Apparently they have to tell you then and there or not at all.

might depend on trust. My trust have only started telling you the sex in the last few years, they used to refuse completely. But they won’t write it down, they will just tell you if you want to know. If you want it written down pay for a private scan.

No my hospital won’t write it down for you, they have signs up to let you know. They will tell you but if you wanted to keep it a secret and write it down then you would need a private scan

Ours wrote it down so it must depend on location, had our 20 week scan 12 weeks ago

The letter from my trust says they won't write it down or reveal it to anyone else. You either find out there and then or not at all (or book a private scan)

In my trust, they have signs saying if you want to know the sex they will only tell you orally and you must request it at the beginning of the scan. It also states they carry zero liability if what they tell you is incorrect.

Private scan places often do packages where they scan, write in envelopes or you can buy the balloons/cannons etc direct from them so no one has to know to buy the right thing.
