Slipping but not falling - 20 weeks

I'm 20 weeks today and this morning I slipped getting out the shower. I didn't fall as I managed to catch myself but it was a very jolty movement and enough for me to let out a scream.

I called the PAU for advice and they advised I go in. So I went in and heard baby's heartbeat and they took my blood pressure - all normal. But I got the impression the nurse that checked me thought I was wasting their time as it was only a slip not a fall. As she made a point in saying to me that the women I spoke to on the phone was very kind to let me come in!

She also said the baby is very well protected inside and I'm sure its fine but I'm a very anxious person anyway and still can't help but worry and would feel more reassured if they'd scanned me! Has anyone else had any slips or trips that weren't a fall and it was all ok?

It was unnecessary of the midwife to say they were very kind to let you come in. If they've done the checks, and baby's heartbeat was ok, I would be reassured that all is ok. I know it's easier said than done but they are very well protected and cushioned in there- and didn't take any impact on them.
I was attacked by a patient at 24 weeks and repeatedly punched and kicked in the stomach. I was scanned due to the repeated trauma and all was fine- she was happily moving about in there.
If you are 20 weeks today, will you have your anomaly scan soon?

Baby really will be fine, and they are most concerned if you actually fell and even more so landed on tummy. I did the same last week at 33 weeks, foot slipped in shower and I stopped myself falling but was a jotly movement throughout my body. Didn't think twice about it and baby has been absolutely fine.

Hi @Strawberry06
Hope you're ok, i know any kind of slip or trip can be scary xx
I tripped outside on the concrete, my knees and hands took all the impact and gosh it hurt, i was nearing 30 weeks pregnant. Thankfully everything was ok with baby xx

@Nursemumma92 Yes its on Wednesday, can't come quick enough!

That's terrible what happened to you but I'm glad all was ok!

@Sagittarius25 you are right and reassuring to hear you experienced the same and it was ok. I was careful anyway but I'll be being extra careful now!

Common sense would dictate that if another member of THEIR team said you should come in, you should go in. It shouldn't be questioned any further than that.

@Strawberry06 it wouldn't even occur to me to go in for a slip that didn't result in a fall. I went in once when I fell down some concrete steps and landed on the side of my bump. Baby was fine.

I think they probably were being kind to you and probably worried about your anxiety level. But that's okay, you've been checked, and it was okay.
