Confused about inconsistent growth scans

38+2 and getting really confused with my inconsistent growth scans.

For the past few weeks my bump measurements have been up and down so midwives have sent me for a growth scan after every antenatal appointment.

34 weeks - ultrasound done by antenatal department & measuring 59th percentile

36 weeks - ultrasound done by midwife technician in maternity triage & measuring 87th percentile

37 weeks - private ultrasound & measuring 67th percentile

38 weeks - ultrasound done my midwife technician in maternity triage & measuring 87th percentile

all I get from midwives in triage after every scan - “everything looks great she’s measuring right on track” and sent home.

It all sounds good to me. What are you worried about?

Mamabear345 · 20/09/2023 21:40

@JoyApple how she’s going up and down between 50th and 80th percentile.
which is she? Lol
seems like a huge range to be dipping between over 4 weeks.

All within realms of normal so I'd chill, personally. Also had a growth scan 4 days before delivery where they told my she'd be 8.5lbs and she was 5lbs 13

@USaYwHatNow how would two scans at 87th centile indicate static growth? Surely if someone stays on the same centile it means they are growing as expected? The centiles are adjusted for gestation so a baby on the 87th centile at 38 weeks is bigger than a baby on the 87th centile at 36 weeks. But their size in relation to other babies of the same gestation hasn’t changed?

Dairywairy · 20/09/2023 22:04

So I think what the two 87th centile scans actually indicate is consistent growth, not static growth. So it’s all good.

@Dairywairy you're absolutely correct, apologies disregard what I said in my prev post OP I misread and therefore mis interpreted what you said!!
