Has anyone ever had pain in lower legs when walking?

I'm in the third trimester and am having trouble walking. I'm OK if I walk slowly but if I try to walk briskly my lower legs/ankles and calves hurt. Feels like a burning/mild cramp.

It goes away once I stop walking.

I'm really worried about it. I don't know if it's just some kind of strange pregnancy thing or if I have some kind of vascular condition.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Not pregnant but I am currently having this. GP isn’t concerned and told me to take it easy till it feels better.

@Garath
My GP isn't concerned either. Said it's probably from being inactive for so long due to pregnancy complications and also the change in weight/ centre of gravity.
I'm just freaked out by the thought of something vascular as it's literally only painful when walking briskly. No sore muscles the day after or anything.

If it’s any consolation, I could hardly walk in late pregnancy. The pain was terrible. Then I gave birth and had no issues with my legs going forward (not counting my current issue which is def not pregnancy related!)

@Garath Was it pelvic pain that was giving you grief or did you have muscle pain in your legs too?

I get pelvic pain as well when I'm walking and although that's equally as painful it doesn't freak me out as much as I know its caused by the baby and will go away. But this leg thing is worrying me as I'm just afraid it'll stick around after the baby's born and I'll still be struggling to walk.

I get calf pain/foot arch pain in bed quite often. I guess it's a mild version of Restless Leg Syndrome. Perhaps your body is responding in a similar way but when you walk instead?

There are some vitamin deficiencies associated with restless legs in pregnancy, iron and folate I think. I read that salt can help too.

I had burning pain all over my entire skin, worse at night and I couldn’t sleep. Pain in my legs from struggling with the excess weight and fluid I was carrying. Pain in my back and hips. All stopped immediately as soon as I gave birth.

Yup, happened to me in pregnancy and couldn't walk the length of myself.

If you become swollen or experience any headaches or flu like symptoms then go to maternity assessment immediately and check for preeclampsia.

Ok I feel a little more reassured to hear from others who have had the same and it went away.

Everyone I've spoken to in real life hasn't experienced anything like this. Only sciatic pain or pelvic pain but no pain in the legs.

Hopefully it'll go away for me too once I give birth! Less than 9 weeks to go now until C Section.
