hi - quite worried here. i’m 6 weeks exactly and have been getting some weird pain that i didn’t experience in previous 2 pregnancies - basically a stinging/sensitive/tender pain behind left side of my c-section scar and then a sort of back pain (but it’s not really pain it’s just a tightening feeling in my back here and there?)

haven’t had any bleeding other than once at 9dpo. my line progression seemed okay have attached a picture of it, but not as dark today (i do think that’s just hook effect though as i experienced that with my other babies)

do these things sound normal please? i’m tempted to book a private scan but can’t really afford it so don’t know whether it’s justified

what did your ectopic feel like?

other worry is that i have zero symptoms. by this point in both pregnancies i was atleast nauseous if not throwing up, etc

I think the only answer here is to speak to your midwife/GP. You need some reassurance. I hope all is well.

Mine didn’t really feel like anything. I thought something was up when the clearblue weeks tests didn’t progress (they have always correctly predicted previous miscarriages for me). Mine was so tiny they couldn’t find until after three scans. My bloods showed pregnancy hormones but weren’t doubling, but also not reducing. Ended up having the injections.

Can you get a private scan to check it’s in the right place? I think it would give you some peace of mind.

satellitesunshine · 17/09/2023 21:28

thanks for the responses! yes i think i’m going to just book a scan somehwere. worth it for the peace of mind, i think i’ll just spend the next 6 weeks panicking waiting for the dating scan otherwise

Mine started with excruciating pain when opening my bowels. I didn't know I was pregnant because I had been experiencing bleeding for two months and just thought it was a long period.

diddlyshoo · 17/09/2023 21:47

It felt a spiking pain just above my groin to the left. It woke me up it persistent and throbbing, I went to go that morning and was sent to hospital.

I felt nothing with the second but was being monitored as I'd had them before.

dramallamadingdongdo · 17/09/2023 21:47

Best way to describe it was a one sided stitch like pain - different to miscarriage pain (had loads of them before) - if you draw a line from your belly button to your hip - more in that area - that was pre rupture

When they ruptured it was writhing on the floor pain (and I have a very high pain threshold) - unable to stand up barely able to walk - no amount of painkillers took the edge off

LavenderSweetPea · 17/09/2023 21:58

Mine felt like a couple of hours of mild cramping pain, similar to light period pain or normal early pregnancy cramping, followed by rapidly escalating pain (like from virtually nothing to can barely walk pain within about 10 minutes). The pain was clearly abnormal so went straight to a and e, bleeding started to show within an hour or two of the proper pain starting. It felt like the pain was everywhere in my stomach, mine was so tiny (I was less than 6 weeks) they couldn't find at first on an ultrasound so they tried to get me to figure out at least which side it was coming from but I honestly couldn't it was just radiating everywhere.

I think if it's ectopic you're unlikely to make it to the dating scan to be honest. If you can't get a private scan, tbh just call the GP and tell them you are having weird one sided pain and ask for an epu scan referral and they should see you fairly quickly to check for ectopic.

Hey! Um not excessive pain, the way I described it to myself was a far-away ache. Like when you hear thunder in the distance and know a storm is coming. I was absolutely certain something wasn't right. More specifically, a burning pain in the hip area, an intermittent stabbing pain in the bum and mild back pain. Spotting. I had internal bleeding by the time I had a scan - less painful (in my case) than you'd imagine. I had an operation the same day. Get checked out.

MyBedIsMySpiritualHome · 17/09/2023 22:11

I had ‘doubled over struggling to breathe’ pain intermittently that went from 2/10 on waking to 12/10 within an hour, and I ‘knew’ something was seriously wrong - that feeling of dread thing that people sometimes say happens with serious acute illness.

Lillybobs86 · 18/09/2023 14:11

All ectopics feel different - some have pain some don't. I had no pain at all then pain then none - all pain vanished.
The only way to find out and to be safe is go have a private scan asap

Mine was like labour pain.. l passed out at work.
I had a laparoscopy because I'd endometriosis and PSOC and PID..(and hadn't used contraception for 7 years ( was told l was infertile) already had a 7 year old DD.) So because of that l think l had more pain.
During the laparoscopy they took the feteus out of my tube and cleaned both tubes up.. stimulated my ovaries and that gave me the chance to conceive.. 10 months later l had my 2nd DD.. Two years after that l had a total hysterectomy. Good luck.. hope all is okay.
