Am I being ridiculous - emotions!

I'm 16 weeks with child #3 and there is Some Stuff going on that's getting me down a bit. Tonight I am really quite sad about it all. I was trying to think what might cheer me up and I wondered about getting a scan just so I could see the baby. We're due the anomaly scan in three weeks and we're trying to save money, so this is ridiculous, right?! I just want to hold my tiny baby, but I definitely can't do that, so seeing him/her is the next best thing!

Please someone talk me out of wasting £75 😳

I don’t think you are being ridiculous. I quite honestly would go for a scan every week if I could so I totally understand the want to do that. I also have found my emotions way more intense generally whilst pregnant. I don’t particularly love being pregnant, being in the scans is definitely the best part of it.

Haha, not helping! I guess that money's as good as gone 😀

I already feel a bit better just thinking about it.

Hahahaha. I had to talk myself down of getting one between 12 and 16 weeks. I’m doing one at 16 weeks. But I totally relate to how you are feeling. I’m glad you are feeling better.

I am 11 weeks pregnant and I already had 4 scans 🤣 I don't think I'll stop until this baby will be born (hopefully). I will probably keep having one every 2 week till the end 🙈

I know I am not of great help, but all this just to say that you are not unreasonable, it is perfectly normal to feel this way.

Spottypineapple · 16/09/2023 12:18

I don't think you are being unreasonable at all. Instead of spending £75 on a scan, why don't you spend some of it on something nice for when baby is here? A lovely nice quality baby grow or something to look forward to putting them in x

Is all these scans healthy for the baby?

Charming81 · 16/09/2023 14:29

Ultrasounds are totally safe for the baby

Yes.

Gosh, you're not being ridiculous at all, so relatable! Whether you have a scan or not feeling like you want one is totally natural. I would have one every week if I could. I did manage to wait between the first scan and 20 week scan just because I wanted to hear about any anomalies from the NHS - thought I might be upset if something came up in the private scan and I then had to try and explain it to someone in the NHS! But it was bloody hard to resist getting one! You are very much normal in how you feel 🙂 xxx

Well you lot are no use 🤣

Thank you all, I am feeling much better. I mentioned it to DH (usually the voice of reason and frugality) and he's up for it. I've now decided that @Spottypineapple is right, and I should spend £70 on chocolate instead. That is what you said, right?!
