Best way to get labour started

Just that really.

What got your labour going? I'm so done and ready! I know logically baby boy won't come until he's ready but I am soooo open to ideas!!

What's your best tip? I'll try it all!

Sex and a curry. Probably better do the sex first !

Oxytocin. It’s what your body use to start labour, it’s what they use in the drip in hospital to induce you. To get oxytocin flowing you need to feel relaxed, happy and in love. So massage, warm bath, comedies, orgasm, nipple stimulation, chocolate, even a small glass of wine, whatever gets those hormones flowing. Things like curry and pineapple dont actually work, they irritate your bowel which is likely to cause loose stools which is not what you want in labour.

I tried all sorts with my last baby and I think it’s mostly just waiting until your body is ready anyway, then get them happy hormones on the go

@PickledScrump I've been trying to get the oxytocin flowing! I think the harder I've been trying to relax the less it's happening 😂

I did a lot of squats and my water broke with my first. With my second things started happening when I tried to collect colostrum, so there is something to the oxytocin theory.

The best way is to just wait until you go into labour

Well, for DC2 I decided enough was enough at 41 weeks- we went for a long walk round a hilly national trust park, I had a medium Nando’s (I’m not great with spicy stuff) and that evening I ran myself a lovely bubble bath with a glass of prosecco and put on my hypnobirthing videos. Contractions started literally as I was watching the video about breathing through contractions. He was out less than 4 hours later.
