Cramping/bleeding in early pregnancy

Hi everyone,

I'm just looking to hear some experiences as I'm approximately 5 weeks pregnant and I have been diagnosed in the past with PCOS.

Yesterday I started to experience cramping and a mixture of pink/brown/red bleeding. I've had bloods taken and will be having more tomorrow. Also had a scan yesterday which showed an embryo and a yolk sac. No heart beat could be detected yet but the doctor explained it would be too early for it anyway as it's usually around 6 weeks.

Unfortunately the cramping (similar to mild period pains) and bleeding has continued into today, I've convinced myself that it'll probably be bad news but just wondered if anyone has experienced similar before.

Thank you!

@polkadot202 I’m sorry you experienced this. Are you able to give an update?

Hello!

No problem at all, the bleeding actually ended up being caused by a hemorrhaging cyst on my ovary (which has disappeared now - it had shrunk significantly by the 12 week scan and had disappeared entirely at the anomaly scan). The bleeding and cramping carried on/off during the first trimester but was always relatively light. Scary to experience - but my midwife explained that bleeding in early pregnancy for all sorts of reasons can be quite common which I didn't really have any idea about. I'm now 21 weeks and baby is wriggling away happily! 😊

@polkadot202 thank you, it’s been a difficult couple of weeks. Possibly because it being Christmas too and the first without my Grandad.

i have had some EWCM today so hoping it means my cycles are going to get straight back to normal.
