Can someone help me understand SMP?

I will talk to my employee eventually but I haven't disclosed it yet.

I understand from our employee policy we get full pay for first 26 weeks and then it goes to statutory after then

Can anyone please advise whether that means statutory = 90% for 6 weeks and then £172/week after. Or will it go straight to £172 week?

Thanks!

Congratulations on your pregnancy.

Nobody here will be able to confirm for certain you company's policy without reading it.

It is usual that any enhanced pay is inclusive of SMP so I would guess that after your full pay period you would move to the equivalent SMP payment for that week which is £172.

The only thing to bear in mind, if your average weekly earnings during the qualifying period put you above your usual monthly pay (eg. because of a bonus, over time or commission), you need to be paid AT LEAST the SMP amount if that is higher than your usual basic pay.

I would imagine it would be down to what your employer states. It should be listed in your company policies which you should have access to.

My companies is 14 weeks full, 6 weeks 90% and then 19 weeks on the £172.
