I am experiencing dull cramps on my left side on and off, this is week 5 and I am yet to hear from our local midwife/ have my booking appointment. This is my 3rd pregnancy but my first did end with a miscarriage so I am a little worried 😔

Is this common?

Hi
I had the exact same thing all through the first trimester always on the right side. When I got to 8 weeks I was concerned so I went and got checked. They basically said it’s very normal and common and not to worry. Just keep an eye on it. I’m not 22 weeks and I don’t have it..just lots of other pains now! X

I had the exact same thing this pregnancy in weeks 4 and 5. It settled in week 6 and now in week 7 I only get the odd twinge. It is completely normal and I’ve had a scan which has confirmed all is well.

Thank you both, I would like to get a scan but I think it's still too early to see a heart beat, might have to go private

My pregnancies were more than 12 years ago now but I remember I had mild cramps early pregnancy. It felt like I was getting my period which really worried me but it is very normal and is caused by the uterus stretching.

Coco9910 · 11/09/2023 08:36

I had mild cramps during early pregnancy and was told it’s the uterus stretching ready for the baby to grow. It is really anxiety inducing, I had a private scan when I was about 8 weeks and that gave me some reassurance.

I’ve had mild cramping on and off, too. I’m nearly 6 weeks now and feel like they aren’t as frequent, but still get the odd twinge. From what I’ve read, it’s normal (it’s just that no one tells you to expect them!). Hope all is okay ☺️

Absolutely normal! I was cramping from weeks 4-6 constantly and am now 10 weeks with no issues (had 2 scans) As long as it's not severe and you don't have any bleeding I would try not to worry.

If you do get a private scan I'd wait until at least 7 weeks when you will see a definite heartbeat as it may stress you out more otherwise. Obviously contact EPU if it gets worse.

lenalove · 11/09/2023 14:08

I had cramping 4-6 weeks on and off and it now seems to have calmed down at 7 weeks, from what I hear totally normal x

Glad I found this thread. Has anyone had cramping at 8 weeks? Woke up this morning and it's pretty distracting. Definitely dull and no bleeding, but I'm worried. Hopefully just my womb stretching? In 1st pregnancy I had cramps earlier.

Hi there

Hope you are feeling reassured by everyone's comments.

May I ask if anyone has experienced similar to what I get.

I'm 4+5 weeks and I've been having mild cramps since I got a positive 10 days ago. Since last Saturday though I've been having all kinds of sensations, sudden stabbing pain in my uterus, tightening, left flank pain which was quite strong and lasted a few hours, today something really weird - something that must be called lightning crotch which is normal in 3rd trimester but not so much so early on.

Shall I call the EPU? I think they'll dismiss me as neither of this is persistent and I'm so early on, is it normal though? Shall I insist to be seen?

Thanks a lot xx

Sammie1990 · 11/09/2023 22:42

Hi,

I also had the lightening crotch from very early on! Is it when you make a sudden movement? I got checked out as I googled everything and scared myself but they said all normal. They only said they are Concerned if pains also happen with bleeding

Hi @Sammie1990

Thanks for replying!
It happens at all times tbh, even when lying down.
How far along are you now?
All the best xx
