First chemical pregnancy

Hi everyone,
Unfortunately I experienced a chemical pregnancy at 4+2 last week, and today I tested negative. Bleeding is pretty much settled, just light spotting now. I was wondering how quickly you ovulate again after this has happened? I have no idea when to start tracking or if I should wait until my cycle returns back to normal and go from there? Any tips?

It can vary from person to person. However it seems (from posts and personal experience) that your body will generally carry on 'as normal' and treat the chemical as a period. I had a chemical in Feb at around 5 1/2 weeks, ovulated around 2 weeks after the start of the bleeding and got pregnant again in March. If you are actively TTC and more importantly if you feel ready then you can track from now and try again straight away. However again this is a very personal choice and don't feel guilty if you need more time to grieve and get to grips with what has happened to you.

I’m sorry you’ve experienced a CP. After both of mine I ovulated on CD17 whereas I usually ovulate CD12-15 so was a little later but not by much

Thanks for replying! Is CD 1 classed as the first day you start bleeding during the CP? Sorry for the questions, never experienced a CP before so just trying to get my head around it all! X

@Berrylady yep I counted CD1 as first day of the bleeding. I had 2 CPs in a row but the 3rd cycle in a row got pregnant again and my baby is 3 weeks old tomorrow so please don’t think it means you won’t have your baby

Sorry to hear you are going through this. Similar to previous posters, I got my BFP the first month after the chemical (I didn’t wait for my next period). I took day 1 as the day the bleeding started and I ovulated on the same day as the majority of my cycles. Fingers crossed for you and be extra kind to yourself this week!

I had a miscarriage but early on, bled with the miscarriage, then had a 5 day gap before the true bleed started, but that counted as day one and ovulation and next period were as normal from then on. Which was a massive relief.
