Anterior Placenta and Kicks

Hey! I'm 21 weeks today and don't think I've felt baby move yet? Scans show he is very active and everything is fine. I am overweight and have a high anterior placenta but I was wondering when others started feeling kicks/baby move? Also what did it feel like?! I don't know if I've already felt him move but as it's my first, I have nothing to compare it too! Xx

Hi,

I recently gave birth to my first baby and had an anterior placenta too. I think I started feeling noticeable kicks and movements around 22 weeks and movement got stronger the further along I was. I too went to scans to see an active baby but was unable to feel baby move. I often felt movement if I lay on my sides and kicks would often be to the side or I’d feel slight movement down low. Having an anterior placenta can definitely make feeling movements more challenging but as baby grows you will definitely be able to tell when baby is moving.
I was advised to tell my midwife if I hadn’t felt movement by 24 weeks but thankfully I did. Hopefully your little one will start making noticeable kicks/movements for you soon as I know up until 22+ weeks it didn’t really feel real I was growing a baby due to lack of movement.

I hope that helps and good luck with everything x

Hey I’m also exactly 21 weeks today with an anterior placenta! I think I’ve been feeling very faint flutters the last week or so, but they’re very subtle just now. Hoping for more definite movements soon 🙂
