Ectopic pregnancy, worrying me.. I'm 5 weeks

I have health anxiety, and I just have this fear of an ectopic pregnancy. I know I can book a private scan from 6 weeks, but will they be able to see anything then? I've had a friend that had to go back when she was this early.

I had some brown spotting bleeding at the time of my period; but it resolved in 24 hours and I've gone 1 week without, pregnancy tests are getting darker and I don't really have any symptoms over then the odd very mild period cramps etc

Does anyone else worry about this?

I didn't particularly worry about an ectopic but I worried about everything else!

If you go at 6 weeks they should be able to see the fetal pole, and maybe a heartbeat although it may be slightly too small. They should also be able to confirm it's a uterine pregnancy for you.

At six weeks yeah they'll definitely be able to confirm if the pregnancy is in the right place or not, just be warned you might well not see much else and that's totally normal.

Ectopic pregnancy isn't that common, is there any particular reason why it's concerning you?

Hiya
I had an ectopic last year and from my experience I bleeding/spotting everyday from just before 5 weeks pregnant, my tests wasn’t progressing and I had really uncomfortable right sided pain

if your not experiencing anything like this try not and worry ❤️❤️

Sorry also to add I’m currently 17 weeks pregnant now and I had bleeding in the beginning with this pregnancy and because of my history the epu got me in for a scan at 6 weeks and we seen everything and a heartbeat so they should see something 🥰

Hi @Bc102

My pregnancy tests are definitely progressing, so I'll take that as a good sign,

what was your right sided pain line? I've got slight cramps and I felt myself ovulate on the right side so I'm assuming I implanted that side, the cramps are more so one sided, but they don't last long and often there more when I think about it and not when I'm busy...

I had brown spotting at the time of my missed period which lasted 48 hours ( I put it down to implantation bleeding ) but I've not had any since...

I had a stressful pregnancy with my 1st 4 years ago, I had Low Pap A and was told my placenta might stop causing still birth... ( she wasn't affected thankfully )

So naturally I've come into this one thinking of all the things that may go wrong

@MumOfHals honestly I can’t even explain the pain it was just really uncomfortable stabbing kind of pain? Not like usual period pain type of feeling. I couldn’t get comfortable sitting down hurt and only relief was if I was lay flat in bed and the pain lasted for 3-4 days then was confirmed ectopic and the pain was just below my belly button

and yeah that sounds as tho it could be implantation bleeding. I didn’t have any bleeding at all with the ectopic untill the day before I turned 5 weeks pregnant ❤️

Completely understandable it’s hard not to worry as it is but when you have gone through something like that everything is definitely heightened, I’m currently 17 weeks now and after my ectopic I’ve just worried about everything yet with my daughter I breezed through pregnancy so I get it ❤️

Sorry for your previous loss @MumOfHals I know what you mean, I'm now 18 weeks, but my last pregnancy was ectopic and even though I found out at six weeks that this one wasn't, all I've done is worry about every thing that could go wrong.

Don't worry about odd cramps and twinges though. Ectopic pain is really something else. Also, I know I ovulated on the right side that time (I had fertility treatment and monitored cycles so I'm totally sure) but the ectopic had lodged itself in the left tube. Apparently this isn't unusual as either tube can pick up eggs from either ovary - which is why you can still get pregnant with only one tube regardless of which side you ovulate from.

To be honest if you're really anxious and it's getting you down, you could go to a private scan place and say you're six weeks. Even if you're only 5 they will still be able to confirm if the pregnancy is in your uterus, you just won't see anything else at that stage.
