Hello everyone!

I'm 3 weeks pregnant for the first time (eek) and have been getting a lot of cramping. Is this normal? It isn't severe but it does come and go all day. Let me know if you had the same this early on!

Thank you!

I had really intense cramping for about 2/3 weeks in early pregnancy. I found out at 3 weeks 4 days. It really normal to have cramping. I’m now almost 13 weeks.

I know it can be a bit concerning but it is normal.

PickledScrump · 06/09/2023 20:35

Yes cramping is really normal, often due to implantation and everything changing.

It’s normal, I had a lot in the early weeks along with a really heavy achy feeling in my cervix. I kept going to the toilet as I was convinced it was my period starting! I’m 8 weeks now and still get it on and off

Hopelesslyhopeful23 · 07/09/2023 15:50

sorry to hijack your post @Sunnny1990 i found out I was pregnant a week ago, currently 4+4 according to my last period. This is my second pregnancy my first sadly ended in a miscarriage at 5+6 back in April. I too have been having cramping for about a week now and I’m terrified it’s signs of another MC or an ectopic pregnancy. Whenever I call EPU they’ve not once said “it’s normal” just that it’s too early to scan but if it gets bad or I start bleeding to come in. I’m worried sick :(

Sunnny1990 · 07/09/2023 17:18

@Hopelesslyhopeful23 It makes sense that you would be hyper aware of sensations and that it would feel extra scary this time! Remember that most people who miscarry go on to have a healthy baby so the odds are in your favour. Good luck!

This might sound really sad but because we are an LGBT couple, the fact we have to pay for fertility treatment means a lot of added anxiety over miscarriage. Trying to reassure myself with statistics that its more likely to go ok then badly?

Thank you all for your input xxx

Hi @Puddle13 I hope you are doing well. I wanted to ask how long your early pregnancy cramps lasted for? I had some for 1.5 weeks (weeks 4-5.5) and nothing for the past 4 days...

Sunnyside1990 · 30/01/2024 18:11

They lasted till the second trimester and I still get funny little ligament pains, but I'm now 25 weeks and everything is fine and healthy! If in doubt try going to an early pregnancy unit and say youre having cramps and they will give you a scan to reassure you x

Puddle13 · 05/02/2024 08:25

@KPSW3 im so sorry I only just saw this. I had mine from like 3.5 weeks until 6 weeks from what I remember. So 5.5/6 weeks not that different. Are you experiencing any other symptoms?

NightSkyWanderer · 05/02/2024 12:46

Completely normal. I'm 17 weeks and still get ocassional cramping

KPSW3 · 05/02/2024 19:59

@Puddle13 thank you so much. I have some other symptoms but very mild. I have my 7 week scan (7+3) tomorrow so will know more then 🙏🏻 I am glad all is well with you!

Puddle13 · 05/02/2024 20:04

@KPSW3 I’m sure everything will be totally fine but I get the anxiety. I had a lot of anxiety in my first trimester and had 2 private scans before my 12 week NHS scan. I’m now over 34 weeks so in the final stretch. Good luck. 🤞🏻

Hi OP sorry to kill the mood but I get that a lot and have had losses. I hope not the same for you but am yet to have a successful pregnancy.

Just saying to be realistic that it is very possibly a good OR bad sign
