Hi,

Long story short I got diagnosed with having polyhydramnios at around 28 weeks, I’ve been having scans to check the fluid and he’s also measuring on the 95th centile. I had a scan today at 35 weeks and he’s still on the 95th centile and my largest pool of amniotic fluid is 15.2cm the specialist said the fluid is large for his estimated fetal weight and she can’t rule anything out at birth even though from all the scans he looks normal.

I’m really worrying myself that something is wrong, has anyone had a similar experience where they’ve been told this and baby has been okay at birth? I’ve also had an MRI sand amniocentesis during pregnancy for another reason and they all came back ‘normal’.

Did they not pick this up on the scans or a private 3D scan?

How is your Little bub now?

Cleft lip was picked up but they couldn't tell about the palate in those days and the Dr was convinced the extra fluid was caused by undiagnosed gestational diabetes despite me passing the glucose tolerance test and never having sugar in my urine.

Baby is now 10 years old and doing well. He has a very gorgeous slightly winky smile and we are currently waiting for what will hopefully be his last operation on his cleft which will take a tiny bit of bone from his hip and put it in his gum to repair the hole.
