Endometriosis and pregnancy

Hi 👋

I have a horrendous obstetrical history including losses in each trimester and an ectopic, in April after my second, second trimester loss I was diagnosed with Endometriosis on my bladder (stuck to uterus) and remaining tube (little stuck)

We decided to try again but i didn't hold much hope, however now i am pregnant again, and I am just wondering what to expect. Does endometriosis cause people pain in pregnancy?

I'm sorry you've been through such a difficult time.

I have endometriosis and have experienced some pain each pregnancy (although not so much in my third so far, which is interesting). I guess it must vary from pregnancy to pregnancy (suppose my body has already stretched and adjusted previously) and from woman to woman.

I'd say the first and second trimesters were the worst from an endometriosis pain related point of view... but that's only as far as I can tell/pinpoint based on my usual period pain areas (e.g. always worse on the left hand side, likewise so is my pregnancy pain) and it is normal for women to experience some cramping/aches/pains as standard during pregnancy, so I guess it's a little difficult to differentiate between "normal" vs endometriosis related.

@Poppins2016 thank you for taking the time to reply to me.

I had surgery for diagnosis in may and since the pain hasn't been too bad, but i guess i don't know what to expect as its completely new to me.

I think its my bladder that bothers me the most, this is my 11th pregnancy so i am ok with normal pains and aches so good to know I may get more pain from endo try not to panic

No, pregnancy is the only time I'm endo pain free! Estrogen is what causes flare ups of endometriosis pain, so in pregnancy you're progesterone dominance stops so much pain. But it does hit with a vengeance the cycle after birth x

I had a tiny bit of pain in the second trimester when things were really stretching as my uterus is tethered to my pelvis but otherwise it was a glorious pain free time.

Post partum periods on the other hand are absolutely awful and I lose so much blood. I’m glad I breastfed as long as I did.

Also to mention I've had endometriosis for 15 years, I have one blocked tube and I have it on my bowel which has lesions attaching to my uterus. When I'm not pregnant and not trying I use the evra patch for contraception only because it's progesterone dominant and stops my endo pain x

Also I’m so sorry for your losses. Endo led us down the path of 6 rounds of IVF to conceive. I really hope this is your time and that you have a safe, uneventful pregnancy.

Thank you @Porridgeislife and @Kellyaust for taking the time to share.

I am probably just thinking its another thing to worry about 🙈
