Pregnancy after chemical and line progression

Hi, I had a chemical pregnancy 2 months ago so I'm so nervous but trying to stay hopefully having just gotten a positive test again this month so would love to hear some positive stories and also how much line progression I should expect before a missed period.

By the calculations of my BBT and ovulation tests I got a positive at only 7DPO this time. The line was very slightly darker today (see pic although it has dried darker in this pic than it was at first). It's strange I've tested positive so early but then my dates could be off. I miscarried last time at 4.5 weeks although I had more pregnancy symptoms but that's maybe as I was slightly further on than this time. I'm praying this little one sticks 🙏

Hi, hope you're OK? I can sympathise with what your going through. I'm going through it myself. Had 5 previous miscarriages, didn't get passed 5 weeks. All my pregnancy test have always been faint on a hpt, But this time I'm monitoring everyday to see if my test darken. I'm not due to start my Period for another 2 days, my progression lines are attached. How are yours going?

It is possible to get a light positive at 7DPO. I was 9 days before my period when I got my 1st faint hpt on the 28/08/23. Period isn't due untill the 5/9/23

Hi @Stacycu , thanks for your reply and I'm so sorry to hear about your losses. Your tests above look great and have gotten so much darker. Thanks so much for sharing the pic. My cycle is a bit shorter since the chemical miscarriage so my AF is due in either 4 or 6 days. Here's my tests now - top is 7DPO, middle is 8DPO in AM and in PM (PM was after only a one-hour hold as I can't stop peeing 😂) and bottom is 9DPO. They're already darker than I got to last time so hoping that continues. I'm afraid to take a digital test yet though.

Have you got many symptoms? I was getting mild pain in bottom left of my stomach but it's moved to across the middle now like really mild period pains. I think that can be normal (according to my friend who experience the sameall through her pregnancy) or at least I hope it is. Hard not to be constantly anxious. Will keep everything crossed for you x

Thank you, I have symptoms yes, sore boobs and pains in my legs, I have cramping to, and I feel very moist TMI, i no 🤣 I get worried with the cramps as every pain is a worry that I might Start bleeding. All your symptoms sound very similar to mine, if I was you I would advise you try a different test and see how you go with that. you're definitely getting a positive. CB digital can pick up from 10 mu or whatever it measures in, so u may find your answer. I got 1-2, on a cb digital 9 days before my period was due. So they can pick up a positive pretty early.
I do wish you all the best, please keep me posted and I will do the same.
The attached picture is a test I brought fron tesco early, its a 25mlu and the othe is just a standard £1.00 one not even a early detection. And I have 2 days left for my period. I don't think they can get any darker.

Hi @Stacycu, how are you getting on today? I didn't sleep last night I was so anxious - I tried every meditation but my brain just wanted to worry. I took your advice and did a Clearblue at lunch time today and got my answer - I bawled when I saw it and I must have ovulated earlier than I thought. Getting a lot of cramps this evening but it feels more like pressure. Hoping I can relax enough to sleep well tonight 🤞 Do keep me posted with how you get on too. I'm going to brave ringing the doctor tomorrow and see what they say 🤞

Aw that's amazing a huge congrats 🎉🎉. It's the best feeling seeing it on the digital. My last period was 10 July but the doctor thinks I ovulated very early in order to be getting 2-3 on the digital already. My cycles have been a bit shorter since the miscarriage so hopefully that's correct. Please God it'll all work out for both of us.

I got a referral to the early pregnancy unit so hopefully they'll do an early scan next week just to make sure implantation happened in the correct place. I was getting a lot of one-sided pain yesterday so they want to check it out. I have multiple sclerosis so hoping it's just ligament changes in pregnancy irritating some of my muscles. Do you have an early pregnancy unit where you live. Usually if you've had more than 2 miscarriages they will see you early on also. Hopefully next May we will both have our rainbow babies ❤️

Hi, @Strawberrybloom. We have a Early pregnancy unit, I have a doctors appointment on the 13th, so I'm gana wait for that. Because I've had quite a few miscarriages I'm just gana take each day as it comes for now, it won't change the outcome, if i go or not. My main problem is I do alot of reading online, 1st I stress over the HCG level, then wonder if it's gana end up being a blighted ovum... there's so many stories out there. Only time will tell I guess. I prayed for this one to stick and it's holding on so far 🙏

Please keep me updated on how things are with you and your pregnancy.

You mentioned above your getting one sided pain, it sounds like it might be something normal, I have it on my left side where u get period cramps, and feeling heavy, Its on and off. Let me no what happens at the EPAC. I will be praying for us both. Take care @Strawberrybloom 😊

Keep in touch.

That's great you've got an appointment for the early pregnancy unit already.

Oh stop I've been googling everything, every day it's something new I'm worrying about. My pain is also all left sided and I rang my friend who's almost 40 weeks and she said her's was mostly one sided too and she had herself convinced it was ectopic but thank God it wasn't and she'll soon have her baby in her arms ❤️

It didn't help my anxiety that I went to my local doctor today in person to rule out a kidney infection (not the Dr who referred me to the pregnancy unit - she's my old GP where I used to live and does phone consults with me). Anyhow the other doctor did a pregnancy test and after 30 seconds said it's negative and said I was going to need a positive on one of there tests. He sent me home with some and I read the instructions and it clearly says wait a minimum of 3 minutes. Anyhow he did a blood test too and promised to ring me as soon as he gets the results so fingers crossed.

Please God it works out for us both and I'll keep you in my prayers too. Look after yourself and keep me updated xx

Reading about your test at the doctors, they probably use a 25mu one, I no CB digital are 10mu. So it might be worth grabbing some cheaper ones, that are 25mu see if the line progression gets darker. U had ur 2-3 weeks on a cb, so that's positive. How long for your blood results?

How are you doing? Managed to get a doctors appointment this morning, was a waste of time really. She wouldn't refer me to a early pregnancy unit as I'm not bleeding or have any problems, she wouldn't even refer me for a hcg blood test. All she said was I need to contact the midwife now. I'm gana wait a few weeks for that tho, I'm gana wait to see how the pregnancy progresses 1st as its still early days.. I'm still getting my 2-3 on a cb, I got one left for a weeks time to see if I get 3+ then I'm done testing at home.

Hey, I'm so sorry to hear your doctor was of no help. What is wrong with them. More than 2 previous miscarriages qualifies you to be seen at the early pregnancy unit. I got my appointment there but it's not for 2 weeks as they want me to be six weeks so they'll see more. I got a positive test with the GP test this morning and it came up straight away - I think it was just cause my urine was too concentrated later in the day as I'm peeing every 20 mins. I actually was started on antibiotics today for a suspected urinary tract infection so hopefully they work 🤞 Could you ask to see a different doctor and explain your history as it's crazy and very unkind that she wouldn't even do a blood test to track levels. Also check out your local maternity hospital's website and see if they have guidelines for referral to the early pregnancy unit. My hcg levels aren't back yet - can take anything from a day to a week depending on how bothered the lab is 😞

Sounds like there on the ball at your end, its good the test came up straight away at the doctors, your HCG is definitely rising. Main thing is, is we're still pregnant, that's a blessing in itself. I'm just gana wait a few weeks and if all well then I'll give the midwife a ring. Weather I see any professional now it's not gana change the outcome, so I don't mind waiting it out. Aslong as I'm feeling fine I'm pretty hopeful 🙏 I'll keep you posted, and you do the same, it's nice to share this experience with someone who's been through the same. Take care 😊

Hi, nice to hear back from you. I'm OK thanks. Reached 3+ on a CB digital, I almost cried with joy. To me it's a good sign my HCG level is still rising. Booked in with the midwife appointments not untill early October tho. Just have to get the 1st scan done to confirm the pregnancy is well, then I can finally sit back and breath. How was your blood test results?

Ah that's absolutely amazing you got that 🥰 I'm so happy for you - It must be such a relief.

I ran out of tests 🤣 but the ones I ordered arrived today so I will test again tomorrow morning with the digital as I can't hold my pee longer than 20 mins today so it would be too diluted to show an accurate result

I was back at GP today and he said my HCG at 3 weeks and 5 days was 123 which is okay but on the low side. He wouldn't repeat the blood test though and said I'm better to wait for the scan next week so now I'm sick with nerves all over again.

I got this test at the weekend though so that's much stronger than the previous few days so will see what tomorrow brings. My insomnia kicked in badly last night though and I didn't sleep a wink so that's not helped calm my nerves either. I wish doctors would understand how anxious we are and just do the blood tests to put our minds at ease. I'll keep you updated on tomorrow test and please God it's good 🙏

That's a very strong positive, it's just a long waiting game, how do you feel within yourself regarding the pregnancy?
Just count each day as it comes. Its good your booked in for a scan tho, but don't forget your still very early so any sign of pregnancy at this stage is positive.
I wish I was having a scan 😔 I'm just enjoying each day still being pregnant, as I normally miscarry before now. I've made it past the week I was dreading. I'm counting the days till I hopefully get to 12 weeks and see a bundle of joy on the scan, and not just a blighted ovum. I pray 🙏 that things work out for us 🙏

All my prays have been answered so far, so I have hope 🙏

It's crazy the first scan is supposed to be 12 weeks - it's the same here only I got lucky with the doctor who referred me. Could you go private for one at about 8 weeks?

Do you know I feel good about this pregnancy it's the doctors that scare me and leave me worrying more. Yes I'm always anxious but my gut feeling this time is that all's okay so please God that right. I have all the symptoms that's for sure - I want to burn all my bras 🤣

Like that I'm celebrating each day as that's all we can do. We have to have hope. How far are you now? I'm exactly 5 weeks today. Have you much morning sickness?

OP posts:

I'm 5 weeks and 4 days 🙌🙌 and no morning sickness, only symptoms I have are very very sore boobs, pains in legs and cramps towards the evening. All day I'm fine with no cramps, then come 3pm they start.
They do private scans over here, from 5 weeks, a reassurance scan, cost £85. But I don't wana pay for them to.tell me any bad news, I'd rather wait it out. Let nature take its course if I make it to 12 weeks then there's less of a chance of it being a BO. It says that if it's a BO you can MC between 7-12 weeks.
If my midwife suggested a early scan at my appointment on the 2nd, then I'll have one done, even tho I'm fully petrified of finding out.

Hi, how are you getting on? Yeah my cramps and leg pains get worse in the evenings too, I think the muscles all get more tired.

I did another couple of tests this morning. Got a mega positive on one but ClearBlue is still saying 2-3 and that's really worrying me. I'm 5 weeks and two days today. I hope everything's okay.

I know there's mixed reviews online about Clearblue. When I used their ovulation tests it told me I don't ovulated but I definitely do or we wouldn't be here! Uck another thing to worry about.

Other than another UTI and thrush thanks to the antibiotics I feel good though and have all the symptoms so please God all's okay 🙏

Don't worry about the cb digital, like you I got 2-3 when I was 5 weeks and 2 days in the morning. Tested again at night on the same day and got my 3+ I felt like crying. Went to the hospital yesterday they did my 1st lot of bloods, HCG was over 5000 which was a surprise. I got a repeat bloods on Saturday and also a scan, so I should get some clearance as to what's goin on in there. Can u open ur cb digital and post a picture of the test lines, you can see how dark they are and see if 3+ is on the horizon. As they look pretty dark before it changed

Update, had my scan today. Wasn't great. Seen a sac which was measuring 4-5 weeks with nothing visible inside. Bloods not rising as they should. 1st bloods was 5225, 48 hours later is was 5400 and something, so not a great rise. So I Don't think this is gana be my 🌈👶

Oh @Stacycu I'm so so sorry I can't believe this. Will they bring you back for another scan in a couple of weeks? My friend went for a scan at around 5 weeks but was measuring under and they could only see the sac but when she returned at 8 weeks there was a strong heartbeat.

For this reason my unit wouldn't see me until I was at least 6 weeks as I'm guessing before then or even around then (depending on when you ovulated) they'll often only be able to tell that it's not ectopic as it's so hard to see anything. Also your HCG is still rising and is high. I'm thinking of you and crossing everything that there is still a positive outcome. Please look after yourself and you know where I am if you need to chat xx
