Hcg over 2000 at 4 weeks?

Hi everyone. Just looking for some positive stories… I had a MC at 5 weeks start of August, confirmed by blood test afterwards that my hcg was 2. Then ovulated 16th Aug and I’m now pregnant again with no period after MC. Got a BFP at only 8dpo which I was surprised about, and then had a hcg blood test today which confirmed 2293 at only 4+3! I’m worried about a molar pregnancy, has anyone had such high hcg this early and everything be ok? No history of multiples on either side of the families either

Hey hope you're doing OK, all I know is the hcg levels jump massively between week 4 and 5...week 4 is usually max 800ish where as week 5 goes upto 7000 or 8000 so if your kind of in the middle it sounds fine, plus you could always be a couple of days out 🤷‍♀️ when do you have a scan? X

naggy095 · 02/09/2023 16:45

@Kellyaust thank you x
I guess that makes sense given how early I got my BFP.. I don’t have a scan yet my EPU said to re-refer myself when I’m 6 weeks x

I would love to know my hcg coz I got my bfp on 8 or 9dpo and had dye stealer by 14dpo so very strong early on this time. I've got my scan on 8th sep I'm nervous wreck x

naggy095 · 02/09/2023 19:15

@Kellyaust this is my dye stealer at 16dpo! I never had one like that in my pregnancy with my daughter. Ooo the scans not long now then! I’ll be thinking of you on the day. Is it early in the morning? x

@naggy095 wow that's a great one! Mine wasn't that as strong as that but stopped testing or id be still testing now 😂

Yes I've to be there for 9.30am but they sometimes take a while so could be afternoon by the time I'm out of there, but hopefully all is well.

Have you got any symptoms? X

onlylovecanhurtlikethis · 02/09/2023 20:12

Not going to lie - it is high and higher than mine was and I did have twins. There are a number of possible reasons some good some bad but hcg has such a wide range it really is hard to say - I'd perhaps book an early scan x

naggy095 · 02/09/2023 20:53

@Kellyaust aw I hope it won’t take that long and that’ll you be in and out quickly 🤞🏼 I have some nausea today and bloating. Fully expecting the HG to start soon 😭 what about you? x

@onlylovecanhurtlikethis thank you, I’m just really worrying after the MC and me getting pregnant again so soon. I’m supposed to be referring myself to my local EPU for a 6 week scan to get progesterone prescribed but I guess I don’t need that now.. but I still want the scan to check everything is ok 😢 the private scans around me start from £75 and I literally booked one yesterday for when I’m 8 weeks before I had the blood test and I can’t afford to book another one 😂

@naggy095 i don't have much at the moment, awful stretching and cramping l a bit of dizziness sometimes and random boob pain but that's it. Also getting progesterone after my 6 week scan if all is well, think it's still worth being on. Oh gosh you could be carrying twins then eh.... 🤞😆

BertieBotts · 02/09/2023 21:28

I think they'll do a scan if they suspect molar pregnancy.

After mc the ovulation date isn't always that easy to calculate so could just be you're a little further on than you thought. Try not to worry! Having bloods is really good. Will they do another after 48h?

BertieBotts · 02/09/2023 21:29

Have they said that you can't get the EPU scan because your HCG is too high?

naggy095 · 02/09/2023 21:39

@BertieBotts the blood test was private one I booked myself just to check the levels were within normal range (and look how that turned out 🤪) so I didn’t plan on redoing one. I think I’ll speak to my GP on Monday to get some advice on what to do next, she’s been amazing and so helpful after my MC so I suspect she’ll refer me to EPU for a reassurance scan and repeat bloods

@Kellyaust ah yes the cramping! How could I have forgotten 😂 agree about the progesterone! As much as twins may be a blessing to some, I really hope it’s just a single baby! I have a few chronic conditions and I just wouldn’t be able to cope with twins 🥲 x

@naggy095 i would definitely request an early scan anyway even to just put your mind at ease, oh well I hope its a singleton for you then 🤞x

naggy095 · 07/09/2023 09:09

I had a blood test yesterday and the level is now 12600 so a massive increase in 4 days I’m so worried it’s a molar pregnancy now 😞

Did you temp to confirm that you ovulated? It may be your cycle was a bit messed up post miscarriage and the opk registered high still.

I had mine done at 18dpo and it was about 1600 from memory. It had tripled two days later. It was a singleton pregnancy. The midwife did say after a miscarriage (I'd had one a few months earlier) they tend to see higher hcg levels.

Hopefully it's okay news for you

CornishGem1975 · 07/09/2023 12:09

Hey OP, hope I can offer a bit of reassurance. I had a massive bleed at 5+1 and they did blood tests. My HCG was 14500, on that basis they sent for a scan a few days later - EPU said they wouldn't scan at that gestation with a low HCG result - but as it was high the midwife said something should be visible, and it was but no heartbeat at that point. Had a follow up scan at 7 weeks (no further blood tests) and there was a good heartbeat. The pregnancy continued fine and I had a very healthy baby.

naggy095 · 07/09/2023 14:03

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 @CornishGem1975 thank you both for the reassuring stories x
I had a scan at EPU today and all looks well at the moment, only 5+1 so they only saw sac and yolk sac so that’s good news so far!

Sounds positive @naggy095! Good luck.

Exactly, that's good news, should tide you over til your private scan at eight weeks.
