Hi! I’m nearly 17 weeks & for the past 3 weeks my skin has become super itchy and reactive to products I’ve always used. Eg. My spf for my face, applied & had to wash it off because it burrrrnt.
I had bloods done because I was worried about choleostasis but they’ve come back clear.
I thought it might have been because I changed detergent but it was from Persil non bio to fairy non bio so hardly harsh products. I’ve spent the last week washing everything but I’m still itchy, albeit slightly less.
Its mainly just my face, behind my ears & eyes that are super dry and itchy now.
I think maybe I’m reacting to my shampoo & conditioner which I’ve used for years.

anyway! I’m wondering if anyone else has experienced this?? Is it normal in pregnancy? I never experienced it on my daughter or past pregnancies.

I had this in my first pregnancy. My skin just felt constantly itchy, for me it was particularly on my legs but would get it everywhere. It got slightly better as the pregnancy progressed although was still happening to a point until I gave birth. I didn't get it in my second pregnancy thankfully.

Yes I had this in 2 of my 4 pregnancies. In my case pregnancy triggered allergic contact dermatitis to my hair dye, moisturisers, some make up, even my glasses (I didn't realise it was possible to be allergic to glasses so I didn't work it out for ages!). The rashes were horrendous when I was pregnant even after I removed the allergen. Once I had the baby they cleared up but unfortunately I'm still allergic to those things. Try eliminating things you are suspicious of. Do you have a rash that is eczema like?

Go and see your midwife. A friend had this and it was a liver issue. Probably not but worth getting checked out.

Thanks ladies!
I had bloods done already & confirmed it’s not liver related thankfully!
@Magssss this sounds exactly what it’s is for me. After posting I washed my hair with water to rinse any product & changed my pillowcase. Woke up the next day feeling much better. Skin still dry but not as much, not itchy. I think the pregnancy has just made my skin super sensitive & reactive to products it’s normally ok with 🤷‍♀️. In the past I’ve had sensitive skin so have to be wary about what I use do I guess it’s just super sensitive now!

thanks all for the advice ❤️

I developed contact dermatitis with my 1st pregnancy & had similar symptoms. Was prescribed piriton during later stages, after it got worse & had extra monitoring/discussed with dermatology etc.
Ended up needing dermatology reviews after birth as it's continued (DC is now 19) & still have flare ups, have never managed to find any particular cause, just have to be ultra careful & manage it.
