Hello,

Just checking if anyone has been to Hey Baby 4D scanning in Wandsworth for an early scan and whether or not they recommend it?

I am 9 weeks 5 days, this is my first pregnancy and I have had on and off symptoms but no bleeding/cramping. I have my first appointment with a midwife on the 01/09 but as far as I am aware that wont tell me if everything is okay with the baby - please correct me if I am wrong.

I had planned to wait until my 12 week scan (no date booked yet) but my mom is visiting from overseas on the 11/09 and I don't think i will be able to keep it a secret but I am nervous to tell her without knowing for sure that the baby is okay. This will be her first grandchild, and the first time I have seen her in over a year.

Any advice, or reccomendations would be appreciated
x

I've used a different branch of Hey Baby as I'm in a different location, and they were highly recommend by a lot of people. If it's the same at my local branch they only use NHS trained sonogrophers (I used to work somewhere that didn't and things were more likely to be incorrect, ie seeing problems the NHS scans then couldn't). I had a wellbeing and gender scan at 17 weeks and the staff were lovely, took their time with the scan, and all measurements were in line with my NHS scans. Hopefully you'll find similar reviews for that branch near you?

Congratulations op.

Is there a local facebook group where you could ask for recommendations? You can post anonymously.

We had an early private scan before telling family as well.

Hi OP I live not far from there and have had both my early scans (two pregnancies) there. They are fine, probably much the same as any other place! As long as you're aware it might be bad news (same goes for any scan of course) just go ahead! It was lovely seeing our first DD with DH together for the first time (she arrived during Covid so he couldn't come to the NHS ones). The more recent time I went alone as I "didn't want to make a big deal of it" and was told it was twins. That was a shock. 😅

@Lottle I hadn't thought about a facebook group, we are going to be moving to the otherside of the UK in a month or so which was part of the reason i was putting it off.

@Bunny2006 I'm glad to hear you had a good experience and interesting to know they only use NHS trained sonogrophers - that is reassuring.

@pamshortsbrokenbothherlegs I think part of wanting to do it is if it is bad news I would rather know sooner than later.. I have booked an appointment tomorrow with my DH, so fingers crossed it all goes well and fingers crossed its not twins! I am definitely not prepared for that!

Thank you all so much for taking the time out of your day to reply to me, I hope you have a lovely weekend!

OP how did it go, would you recommend?

Newtotheforums · 16/09/2023 16:04

@YouPutTheScrewInTheTuna it went really well! It was worth every Penny in my opinion. The staff were super friendly and professional and we got a cute photo that resembled a baby platypus haha but it absolutely put my mind at ease and made me feel way more relaxed about the pregnancy. And to be honest even if the result hadn’t been positive, I think it was a much nicer environment to have found something like that out rather than in the hospital.
