Hi everyone. Just looking for abit of advice or if anyone has been through something similar. I had my fet 11th august and tested positive 2 weeks later. Ive been using the clearblue digital weekly since and as expected gone from 1-2 to 2-3 however this weeks test is showing 1-2 again when it shouldve stayed at 2-3 or been 3+. I am so worried. Ive been to the drs and he wouldnt give me a blood test just said not to worry unless i was cramping or bleeding as test still says pregnant. Anyone else dealt with something similar. Hopefully im worrying over nothing and its just a dodgy test x

I'm afraid when I used ClearBlue digital and got readings that I wasn't expecting it was evidence that the pregnancy wasn't going well and I ended up miscarrying. I ended up being stuck on 2-3 for weeks, I had spotting, and then miscarried at about 7 or 8 weeks. Would you be able to pay for a private scan to see if things are progressing as expected? Sorry that you're in this position, it's horrible.

It's not a medical tool.

Really wish they would ban those tests. Stop testing.

Can you take a non-digital test instead? Sometimes the clear blue ones are not reliable but on a dye test, you will be able to see how strong the line is.

CluelessInLondon · 29/08/2023 18:08

Sorry to hear you are feeling anxious. I had two weeks in a row on those tests showing 2-3 and vowed not to use any more of them as the lack of progression made me panic. I did a dye test a few days later and it was a dye stealer so I decided I was done and doing any more testing wouldn't tell me anything else. The weeks indicator is useful but not an exact science - hope it works out okay for you, maybe book an early scan if you can? The longer you can leave it (I know that's hard!) the more useful it's likely to be.

Ah I remember my Clearblue test.told me I was 2-3 weeks gone, when infact,I was nearly 4 months pregnant. That was years ago.Very unreliable and shocked they are still being marketed

hopefulmum46 · 29/08/2023 18:18

Can you not pay for two beta hcg tests 2 days apart if your doctor won't organise them for you. Then at least you'll know whether things are moving in the right direction. Hope it works out for you

MindatWork · 29/08/2023 18:21

Hi op, is your clinic not getting you in for an HCG test to confirm the pregnancy?

I get the anxiety but i understand those clear blue date tests are very unreliable

Same for me, went backwards from 3+ to 1-2. I took it as a sign of miscarriage and it was. But OP, I don't think that means this is always the case, there could be other factors affecting it.

Just an update for anyone who comes across this post. The tests were infact impending misscarriage. I went for a hcg blood test, and levels had dropped to just 8 😓 realy frustrating as im not cramping or bleeding so hasnt realy hit me yet.

I’m so sorry you’re going through this. The same happened to me back in June. Sending lots of love xx
