Lessening symptoms at 8 weeks

Hi all

I’ll be 8 weeks tomorrow and the last two weeks have been tough in terms of nausea, gagging and dry retching. It pretty much lasts all day. Not to the point I’m stuck in bed, but enough to notice it throughout the day.

But I’ve noticed today the symptoms are definitely not as bad. Is it common for symptoms to start lessening at 8 weeks? I was sure I’d be ill until 12 weeks!

Had a scan last week at 7 weeks which showed a strong heartbeat, but after a mmc in May, my anxious brain won’t switch off!

Hi, I just wanted to post as I was the exact same - my nausea definitely reduced then stopped around 8 weeks (except for random waves and when I was hungry). It’s made me so anxious these past four weeks but I have my scan on Tuesday morning so fingers crossed! Anyway, I did tell my midwife at my booking appointment but she wasn’t really worried and said they can ease off early. That being said, my tiredness has definitely not gone anywhere!! X

@Justhereforthesong Ok so I’m not alone! Fingers crossed for your scan - let me know how you go!! ☺️

@LittleMiss2023 just wanted to pop in and say hi from our other thread, when is your next scan? I think symptoms can change day to day so wouldn't worry too much, I know it's hard coz we had our mmc at the same time and I'll definitely be on edge watching for the same 🤦‍♀️ fingers crossed its all OK 🤞❤️

LittleMiss2023 · 27/08/2023 08:30

@Kellyaust so happy to now see you on this board! ☺️

Next scan is on the 13th when we get our NIPT bloods done. So still 2.5 weeks to anxiously wait. I just keep telling myself, every pregnancy is different, hopefully I am lucky and the worst part of the nausea is done and my body has adjusted well to the hormones!

How are you feeling? Have you booked a scan yet?

I think if it was me I'd be tempted to call my epu if they're helpful they might scan you again before then? Obviously thinking back now that was probably the first sign of my mmc... But at the time I didn't think much of it coz I wasn't expecting that to happen... If you explain it happened before maybe they'll humour you?? Some won't but worth a try?

The epu have got my first scan in for 8th sept at 6 weeks... So yeah I'm just waiting and praying 🤞 I'm feeling fine though just usual cramps not much else is happening atm x

Hi there I understand the feeling having had a mmc myself in 2019.

With my second child, my symptoms got better for about 5 days at 8 weeks. He's now an 8 month old, crawling, standing baby! I firmly believe that your body gives you a bit of rest-bite now and then. I then had awful symptoms with him until 20 weeks!

Congratulations! It's tricky navigating pregnancy after a mmc but my next 2 pregnancies went without a hitch and gave me my daughter and son :).

May have spoken a bit too early - they have not lessened! 😂 Must have just wanted to give me a 12 hour break!

Providing an update because I know I read every single thread multiple times trying to reassure myself.

Took myself for a private scan today and a happy little bean with a heartbeat of 169! Very relieved.

Sorry been very busy but I wanted to come back to update too as I know it’s (hopefully) reassuring for other people! I had my scan on Tuesday and it went great, I am 11 weeks 6 days now ☺️. So pleased to hear everything is good @LittleMiss2023 - it can be such a worrying time can’t it!
