I'm 14.6 weeks pregnant. I have a slipped disc that is causing me so much pain. I woke up at 4am in agony, I made a hot water bottle and basically lay on it, the disc is in my lower back so I had it in the curve of my back.
I fell back asleep so must've been there for a good1.5hour or so.
I'm panicking now that I've somehow hurt the baby with the heat.
Is this possible??

No

No. A hot water bottle can't raise your internal body temperature.

youll be fine. You know people have pregnancies in hot countries?

slippeddischell · 26/08/2023 07:46

Thank you. Yeah of course but it was the constant heat in one place that was worrying me

It will be fine but one thing I found when I had a slipped disc during pregnancy was that using ice packs actually helped more than heat. Hope you can find ways to manage the pain during pregnancy, I saw a private physio that specialised in pregnancy and postnatal health, she was amazing in helping me get through it all.
