Stopping low dose aspirin

Hi, after some advice please. Anyone that's taken LDA for reoccurring miscarriages, when did you stop? And did you just stop cold turkey? Or did you wean off it? I'm very anxious to stop it as I feel like it's what's kept me pregnant! I'm 34 weeks now so was considering going to every other day for a week or so to cut it down slower. Any advice welcome please.

Following! My midwife said to not take it if I think I'm in labour but I've read others stopping at 36 weeks 🤷🏼‍♀️

I was told 36 weeks too but I think that's because that is guidelines for preeclampsia. I'm so anxious to stop but also feel like I need to wean off it for my own sanity rather than just stopping. How many weeks are you? @mumtotwox

Following, I'm currently taking low dose aspirin. Was advised to take it from 12 weeks last pregnancy but unfortunately I didn't get that far. This time I've started from my bfp... I'm 4 weeks now

@wednesdaysmusings I totally get you and I think I'll be the same. Can you ring triage for some advice? I'm only shy of 15 weeks so a little while to go!

@Kellyaust congratulations! I took it from 1dpo because I felt like I had nothing to lose. I lost all other pregnancies by 5 weeks and now I'm 34! Everything crossed for you. I really think it helped.

Wow congrats that's amazing! I've heard it can't do any harm so thought I'd just do it anyway. I had a mmc so went to 12 well scan and was told my sac was 11 weeks but baby stopped growing at 6 weeks. Real shocker. Hoping this time is different 🤞

I was taking aspirin from 12 weeks for different reason and was told to stop at 37 weeks. You don't really want to be on aspirin while in labour.

wednesdaysmusings · 25/08/2023 21:17

@Moni81 no this is my thinking. I guess I just feel very anxious that if I stop it a clot will form and I'll lose this baby too.

It's best to speak to your consultant, if you already take aspirin, there shouldn't be problem to continue with it. I took aspirin due to my age to help placenta blood flow and reduce risk of preclampsia. I haven't noticed any negative side effects of low dose 150 mg a day and even if you don't get prescription, it's very cheap in any supermarket to buy. However because it's blood thinner you will have to stop it before going to labour, anything before 37 weeks is considered preterm so I guess that's why I was told to stop at 37. I'm now 39 weeks, 2 weeks without aspirin and nothing wrong is happening, had scan on Monday and actually baby shoot up on percentile scale since 36 weeks significantly and blood flow was fine.
