Didn't play baby's heartbeat

Had our 12 week scan yesterday (I'm 13+5 today) she said everything looked perfect, baby was very active and we saw the heart beat on the screen but she didn't play it. Is this normal? I didn't think to ask at the time because my adrenaline was crazy ---🇬🇧

Think thats normal. We didn't hear heartbeat until midwife used the machine late on in pregnancy, wanna say around 30 weeks?

They didn’t play it at 12 or 20 week scans for us. Not sure if they do in some areas and not others

They don't tend to play heartbeats in England; unless you pay for a private scan for that purpose.

You'll likely hear it more at midwife appointments through the doppler; but not until much later on, because it's hard to accurately find or listen to before then and that can cause unnecessary panic.

That's normal for an NHS scan, saw it on all of my scans but only ever heard it with midwife and doppler or on CTG monitoring once in 3rd trimester.

Thanks so much all. Feel better now x

With my pregnancies I had midwife appointments at 16 weeks where you listen to the heartbeat. I’m in the Uk, in the South. Never heard it at scans.

I only heard it at a private scan xx
