I'm 37+6 and my waters broke a few hours ago. I've been admitted and now waiting to start induction. Husband had to go get some stuff from home. I'm not really having many contractions yet, and I'm just bored and worrying by myself in the room. Just looking for a labor buddy!

I'm a few weeks PP with my second and I just wanted to give you a virtual hand hold.

I will say try and get as much rest as possible as when the induction starts it's exhausting. I've had two inductions. One long, one super quick.

Just wait - it will be the best experience of your life. Good luck xx

Not in labour but I’m 37 weeks and awake (again) with strong braxton hicks. I’ve got the cat for company and just trying to relax and go back to sleep. If your contractions aren’t too bad yet then I’d try and get some rest for now.

good luck, it won’t be long now until you have your sweet little bundle in your arms.❤️

Thanks so much for keeping me company!! Starting to get some stronger contractions. Trying to decide when the best time would be to get an epidural... Pain is still manageable.

Ah how exciting OP! I'm here for a handhold and feeding my 1 week old.

Just wanted to say- I was induced and was encouraged to get the epidural early on, they seem to have shifted a bit from the 4/5cm rule that they had when I had my first two years ago. They told me if I wanted it get it whenever as you never know how quickly you'll progress. As it was, I pushed out my DD last week 1hr after the epidural was in place, so it was just in the nick of time - and that was a result of me thinking 'maybe I should get it now even if it's a bit early'. I think the only thing they wanted was for me to be contracting regularly.

Hoping you're not in too much pain!

How exciting! How are you feeling now?

I think as soon as you get to the labour ward ask for one immediately as they always get called away for emergencies. Hopefully you've had it by now and baby won't be long!!!

I read this post earlier, knowing that I was also in labour! My waters had gone and contractions started. Had my boy at midday, hope you have your LO too OP!

Thank you all! Congratulations to @cinnamonbiscuit and @ILookAtTheFloor for their brand new babies!! I followed the advice and got my epidural. Labor was long but I finally had my baby boy with no complications!! ☺️

Congrats OP and the others that have just given birth.

What were your experiences like with the epidural? X

cinnamonbiscuit · 24/08/2023 22:31

@babybabyk2023 having it put in was slightly uncomfortable/painful for a split second while they numbed it. The epidural itself took my contractions down from the point where they were just starting to feel unmanageable back to feeling like period pains.

I pushed my little girl out an hour after the epidural went in, and while the contractions were mostly painless at that point, I did get a lot of uncomfortable pressure as baby started descending. The best thing about the epidural was that I didn't feel any pain when the head was crowning which meant I could push really slowly and I stayed in control - midwife said that's probably why I didn't tear!

Overall I'm so glad I got the epidural and really glad I got it when I thought it was still a bit early- as it turns out it really wasn't early!
