Honest Opinions on Names

Thinking of using Theodora - nn Teddie . I would've gone for just Teddie but feel she should have the option later on to use a longer name. Although many people use nicknames as full names now!?

Honest opinions on both please .... 😀

Kindly OP - this must be the fifth or sixth thread I've opened and it's been you asking about 'theodora' again!

I feel like if you need this much reassurance from strangers on the Internet then perhaps neither Theodora or Teddie are the right names for you?

Maybe try starting a fresh list and see where you get to x

Kaceeee · 20/08/2023 21:05

Don’t like it at all, just sounds too manly with an a stuck on but that’s just my opinion. If you like it that much others opinions shouldn’t matter too much

CR7 · 20/08/2023 21:19

@teatime2022 I'm sure you've posted this before? Did you not get the response you wanted?

Clm22 · 20/08/2023 22:12

I’m feeling deja vu 😂😂

op, I didn’t comment on your last posts, there have been a few ?!

personally, I’m not keen on Theodora, Teddie for a girl is a god awful name.

I know the struggles on baby names, why not wait for her to pop out and then decide ?
I let my other half decide my dad name as she was nameless for 24 hours.
shes almost two and I don’t hate it.

why not wait and see?

FirstTimeMumma2021 · 20/08/2023 22:41

I'd put this in the name channel, you'll likely get a much better response and if it's honesty you're wanting you'll get it in there ...

noaddedsugarx · 21/08/2023 07:27

How many times do you need to make the exact same thread?! 🤔

noaddedsugarx · 21/08/2023 07:58

Sorry I realise that comment wasn't helpful. I'm not keen on Theodora and I'm probably one of the rare people that doesn't actually mind Teddie as a name! She may not thank you for it when she's older though. You could have Thea as her name on the bc and Teddie for a nickname?

sashastuck · 21/08/2023 09:49

I definitely prefer Teddie and don’t like Theodora

TropicalTrama · 21/08/2023 09:57

Since you asked I don’t like Teddie and am not massively keen on Theodora either.

However, if you just want everyone to agree with you that it’s a nice name then maybe stop repeatedly asking internet randoms for advice, have confidence in your choice and use the name you love. Once you’re actually introducing a beautiful new baby then people will only be able to say nice things!

Theoldwoman · 21/08/2023 09:59

It’s mean to call a child Teddie imo. Would you like to be called Teddie? Serious question.

Volterra · 21/08/2023 10:01

I don’t like either at all but it won’t be my baby so if you like them go ahead.

DaddyPigMustDie · 21/08/2023 10:02

Teddie is bad on a boy but on a girl is awful. Really really bad.

Jyas · 21/08/2023 10:09

Thing is, everyone has their own opinion and different taste, you’ll always get mixed responses….for what it’s worth, Thea or Theodora are fine (although far from my first choice of names but I’m not you and which names I like should not matter). I wouldn’t put Teddie on the birth certificate but no problem with using it as a nickname.

Hambokki · 21/08/2023 10:11

Maybe consider Althea instead, which means truth.

Timeless01 · 21/08/2023 10:13

I’m not keen on either sorry.

pimplebum · 21/08/2023 10:17

Teddie is ok for a baby nick name
I can imagine a baby in a teddie onesie all cute and teddy bear like
but not for an achual name
Dora is a better shortened version of Theodora but that's just me

Personally I have a loathing if these name threads as it's all so pointless
Name your kid what you like ffs some folk will like , some will loath it and other will me meh about your name - who cares !!!

Are you suffering from anxiety OP and hyper focusing on the name ?
