Regular spotters ... did it continue into the second trimester?

Wondering if I am just being a worrier or I should push for another check. Currently 14+2 .

Had spotting in my first trimester a few times each week. Very light and pink . Just lasted a few wipes on tissue each time and never really went on for longer than an hour really. Never in my pants etc.

I got an extra check at week 9 because of this and had good scans week 7 then week 12+4. Always been fine. No reason found for bleeding. Cervix looked healthy.

It's now continued into my second trimester and worry has crept back in as I thought it may have stopped by now.

Just looking for stories of others who had spotting that continued into second trimester?

Ahh it's horrid when this happens. I really feel for you.

I don't know where you are, but I had bleeding like this around 18ish weeks (england) and phoned and had to go through gp to get a scan (although told to go to a&e if got very heavy). It was only after 20 weeks and finding my placenta low that I could phone and go straight in with bleeding. If uk based, the healthier choices app can be used abroad and directs you. I was told that it's my blood, not baby's and not as bad as it looks, but is awful. Hope it settles quickly.

Hope your scan goes well tomorrow!

@3rdtimemumma I'm in aus - the healthcare is great but I find it all abit confusing - I'm originally from the uk so I suppose I have less people to ask how it all works as most my friends gave birth in the uk.

I was already under Epu earlier and had an extra scan for bleeding and at the time she checked cervix and was all good (back in week9 though)
I have concerns I'm potentially low lying as it would make sense with my spotting and now bleeding getting heavier at this stage.

Ill explain at the private scan place today and also really push at my appointment tomorrow for checks x

All was well at the scan thank god - was lovely to see baby again BUT spotting a bloody gain!

really going to advocate for myself tomorrow at the appointment and push for extra checks on what caused yesterday and the continuous bleeds. It's getting worse. I have those pictures of yesterday I can show!

Hi, fab to hear scan is all good! Definitely push for some answers tomorrow. Have you been checked for fibroids or polyps, these can also cause bleeding and can be quite common.

MrsW9 · 03/09/2023 16:15

Pleased to hear all was OK!

Update for current spotters/future spotters finding this!

midwife appointment went well , she said if I bleed like that again then I must go to ED (prior to 20 weeks) and birth suite after - it's not being a pain.

sent me for an urgent scan as I was still spotting but also developed pain today when I walked. Baby was absolutely fine again. Cervix looked fine (and long apparently). Placenta in the right place??

My bleeding still remains a mystery. But god I am stretching today. In a lot of discomfort!

hope your all well x

Thanks for keeping us updated. I hope it all settles soon and so pleased you're getting great care (think I'll move to oz!) And most importantly, baby is well. Please keep letting us know. :-)

Mangotango39 · 04/09/2023 22:22

@3rdtimemumma thank you!
yes we are lucky with care , especially my area seems particularly good. Sometimes I hear people speaking negatively and I catch myself wanting to tell them off (I don't haha!!!!)

it's all free bar the lengthier 12 week and 20 week scans have a small fee . All else is included in our medical care but alot of people actually opt to go private :/ we don't have that sort of cash but also not sure it's really worth it!!

How's everyone getting on?

I had a just over a week no spotting and thought woohoo maybe this is the end. Then some appeared yesterday. Very light thought not the bigger type bleed but GR!

If it was any heavier I was going to go to emergency and that's my plan going forward .

Hope you are doing OK. I've had about a week of no spotting so really really hoping it doesn't come back. Definitely still feeling wary, though.
