Pregnancy Hematoma - Bleeding & Nausea?

hi all,

3 days ago I had a transvaginal ultrasound due to experiencing mild cramps and spotting (dark brown). It lasted for 1-2 days and stopped. According to my ovulation date I would be just over 5 weeks pregnant.

the scan showed a gestational sac & yolk sac, no fetal pole at this stage. Next to the gestational sac was an area of blood - smaller than the gestational sac but was more than 50%.

a day after my scan I woke in the night to moderate cramping and when I went to the toilet there was red blood. I would say it would seem a light flow period.

Cramping continued and bleeding turned darker. I have felt SO nauseous and lethargic.

bleeding and cramps have settled and there is minimal blood now when wiped.

I just wanted to hear similar experiences, is it normal to have such bad nausea or cramps alongside a hematoma or should I expect I am miscarrying?

I would be 6 weeks tomorrow.

Can’t rule out a MC, but when I had a SCH around 6 weeks I had cramping and a few hours before it happened just felt… wrong. Really hard to describe but like an anxious, uneasy feeling in my stomach.

I can’t remember definite nausea (it was five months ago now), although I was so convinced I’d had a MC I was just generally a mess and in bed all weekend.

@ES1986 thank you! So everything was ok with your pregnancy?

I feel so nauseous and unwell still, had a bit of dark blood but no further cramping or fresh blood.

my scan is in 7 days which feels like a lifetime away!

Yeah I’m 30 weeks pregnant now. Have gestational diabetes and fibroids .. but the baby seems absolutely fine.

I remember waiting five days for my scan and it was such a long time. I really hope everything’s ok for you.

@ES1986 that sounds tough but really pleased everything is going well for you and your baby!

Did you also have bleeding when you had the cramping?

Sorry for the questions, I just feel more concerned that I had fresh blood with cramps. I’ve had MC before so I’m very anxious.

From memory I had period pain-like cramps all evening, then when I got up to go to the toilet about 9pm there was a rush of blood. I think the cramps eased off after that, and then next day it there wasn’t fresh red blood but more brown blood when I wiped after going to the toilet. Like day four of my period sort of thing.

This sounds similar to me. How long did your bleeding last afterwards?

There was brown blood when I wiped after going to the toilet for a couple of days only.
