Lump in armpit 24 weeks - trying to be calm

I noticed my left armpit was sort of swollen a few weeks ago and put it down to boobs getting bigger during pregnancy. This week I was in the shower and it was noticeabslly swollen, after a good feel I couldn’t really find a specific “lump” but there’s definitely something soft and enlarged in there (where armpit meets my boob)

Saw the GP today she’s referred me for urgent appointment at breast clinic which is good because I can get it thoroughly checked. I felt calm and unbothered but now my head is spinning and I’m really struggling with being anxious about it. Surely it’s too early for a blocked duct? It’s just one side which i gather is more of a concern than if it were in both.

Has anyone had this come on in the second trimester? How did it go for you?

Im just panic stricken it’s going to be something sinister and am really struggling.

Bless you I have no advice but sending you hugs and good luck! Hope it is something minor and you get sorted ❤️

I found a lump, had a needle biopsy in clinic, and it was a milk duct.

I had a swollen armpit with a noticeable round lump when I was about 25 weeks with DS - though I do get these on and off anyway whether pregnant or not. I've had investigations done years ago and found that I'm just really susceptible to getting large hormonal lumps so it was put down to that. It went away after a few weeks. Currently pregnant with #2 and I've had it twice again in the same armpit though not as bad and it's cleared much quicker each time.

I have previously this year (prior to pregnancy) and last year been put under the 2 week window referral to a breast clinic due to other lumps found (these were lumps actually in my boobs) and when they gave me an ultrasound they checked my armpits too and all was clear.

I'm sure they've referred you as a precaution if you haven't had these types of lumps before. They are very thorough and efficient at these breast clinics and will make sure they get to the bottom of it for you. I hope you get your appt soon and that it is something minor. Until then make distraction your best friend and plan some things you enjoy to help take your mind off of it x

Thanks @BEO me too!

@DustyLee123 @Lottie917 @PurpleReindeer2 finding a lump or swelling anywhere let alone your boob area is so worrying isn’t it! Overall I’m glad I’m going to get it thoroughly checked out and hope I get an appointment letter soon.

The waiting is the absolutely worst, just left to ruminate with my thoughts and a deep sense of dread. On top of the usual worries that come with being pregnant I feel like I’m tearing my hair out. I keep switching between, has the baby kicked enough today and is the lump still there 😪 it’s just horrible.
