Swollen vagina ?varicose veins

Hello!

I’m 30 weeks pregnant and after a smooth pregnancy so far I’ve developed this week: piles, a lump on one side my mons pubis which is a swollen vein (can’t see any vein but can feel it underneath the swollen area), and puffy swollen labia (that when I feel I can feel a meaty vein on each labia). Lovely!

I am trying to stay positive, aware that both piles and varicose veins go after delivery. I’ve got cream for piles from the chemist, ordered some labia varicose support shorts from pebble, and trying to do a daily walk and ice the area afterwards.

However this has shaken my vaginal birth plans somewhat. I suddenly feel
really unconfident, I feel certain that these are just going to get worse and worse for the next ten weeks (is this right?!) and they are going to burst at delivery. I was previously thinking home birth and now I’m thinking to go to hospital. This is my first baby.

anyone have any wise words or wisdom,
or can just share my despair at my nether regions?!

Sorry to hear this, I'm also in the same boat. I follow pregnancy and post partum TV on YouTube who has some exercises you can do to relieve pain. I also found swimming seems to relieve pressure.

I had this also with my first pregnancy and didn't interfere with vaginal delivery at all so fingers crossed you can get your home birth, mention to your midwife.

Lots of dates for the piles and lactalose.

Praying mine also go away but though they were much reduced they were still there and it's much worse with second baby.

Good luck x I

sorry to hear you are also suffering @razzler991 !

Thank you I think I will try swimming that is a good tip!

In your last pregnancy did you notice that they got progressively worse as your gestation increased? Or once they appeared did they stay the same throughout? X

So in my first pregnancy I didn't notice them till I was about 35 weeks and they didn't get much worse and i didn't give birth till 42 weeks and put on lots of weight in those 2 weeks.

This pregnancy I got them from about 27 weeks and pain has reduced though the veins haven't (now 31 weeks). A bit worried about going back to work on September where I will be on my feet all day. I did buy one of those harness things which seems to help.

Oh that sounds so tough @razzler991

my compression shorts arrived an hour ago and the relief they have provided has been noticeable just since I’ve put them on!

pregnancy is Brutal!
