Found out i'm pregnant with an IUD

Had an ultrasound today, to check why I've been bleeding irregularly for a few months. Turns out my IUD has slipped and causing the bleeding. Nothing else shown on the ultrasound, but they assume it's been there like that for a few months.

Since I've apparently been having unprotected sex for a few months I thought i'd test.

FUCK.

I'm 5 weeks pregnant.

I didn't want to start TTC for at least 6-9 months. But cant abort the baby to only try again come the end of the year.

However - the sonographer couldn't see any sacs (I specifically asked), so of course i'm worried about ectopic pregnancy or miscarriage since I still have the IUD (waiting for consultant appointment to get it out)

FUCK FUCK FUCK.

(Sorry cant tell husband until he's home from work - and my closest friends are all working until this evening - I need to vent).

I didn't even know IUDs could slip?
How are you feeling about the pregnancy?
Can you talk to your mum or dad or a relative you can trust to keep quiet about it all so that you have time to decide what to do?

There's apparently 1 in a 100 chance of it happening - I'm naturally an unlucky person so of course its me it happens too!

I don't know - I thought I'd be happy as I absolutely wanted at least 1 other baby, but I cant help feel gutted - I'm not sure why. I'm not sure I'm ready to do it all over again, I was just getting my life back (current toddler is 18 months old).

The sonographer couldn't see any sac or hint of baby this morning, but I've tried 3 different brand of tests - its definitely positive, and I've only had sex twice in the past 3 months - so I'm either 9 or 5 weeks pregnant, or more sinisterly miscarrying or carrying an ectopic pregnancy.

My entire support network is either at work, or taking my toddler out for the day. I'll have various people to speak to tonight - but I'm freaking out now and wish any one of them could come comfort me!

If you are 5 weeks that is really early to see something they usually don't scan until 6 weeks for tbks reason and even then it's super early x

Your mind must be absolutely reeling bless you x

Yeah I was considering booking a private scan in about 3 weeks from now to see if there's a sac anywhere.

They were actually scanning me to check for Endometriosis, PCOS or PID rather than a baby aha - since I WAS confident that I'd never be pregnant lol.

I'm just sad - it's pathetic but I had my baby planned to be conceived early next year, then by toddler would have had another summer with just me and their dad, rather than with a newborn in tow.

But i'm also sad that this pregnancy is much riskier and may not be viable.

Is it a copper coil or mirena?
Think it's dangerous to the baby to leave the mirena in place as it a hormonal coil

It's copper - I've got an appointment with the consultant tomorrow to get it removed, hopefully shall be removed by end of the month.

Please let your consultant know about that pregnancy. I would suggest a scan in 1 week just to try and place the pregnancy. Ectopics are more common with IUD pregnancies

Yeah I will do, I'm just at the doctors waiting for appointment, but I've spoken to EPU too who's said its too early for a scan so they'll do the HCG blood tests today, Friday, Sunday to check initially if the doctor doesn't already insist.

I'm feeling slightly more calm today, however I've started getting side cramps and heavier bleeding so not feeling positive. I'm not willing to accept there's a possible baby until we've confirmed the coil is out and it's not ectopic etc
