Baby bump anxiety

Dear Mumsnetters,

I hope you all are doing well.

I am 33 weeks pregnant and yesterday as I was getting out of the car, when I closed it, I'm scared that the car door hit my baby bump or scraped it. I have anxiety and therefore, I cannot remember if it is just my anxiety playing up or if the car door actually did even scrape my bump or touch it as it was closing. I know it sounds so odd. Usually I'm very careful always when I'm closing car door but I was bursting to pee so I think I closed it as normal rather than moving to the side and closing it like I usually do. I had some slight pain in my pelvis after that before sleeping but it didn't last long at all. Also, I feel as if though my left side of my belly (where I thought the car door scraped my bump or hit it) is feeling a bit uncomfortable and little sharp pains here and there. However, I do not know whether this is in my mind cos I've put it in that I've hurt my belly or if it actually is something else.
I'm so sorry for the long confusing message I'm just a very anxious person and this would be my first baby after a miscarriage last year.

I'm sure you're fine. We were at the swimming pool when I was pregnant with my 2nd and my oldest accidentally jumped on my bump. I felt awful for a few days after and felt something wasn't right but my midwife said to me that they're so cushioned in there that it would really have to be a massive impact for it to have hurt the baby. If you're feeling this anxious though, you should call your midwife and ask to be checked over, just to put your kind at rest. I'm sure they'd be more than happy to xxx

Don’t worry - I’m 36 weeks and on Saturday had to push my way off a really
packed tube in London. Every person I passed I had to properly squish my bump against. Felt
v upset afterwards and had a bit more
pain for a day but all seems fine now. Remember they are surrounded by fluid so you’re squishing fluid not baby!

Thank you for the reassurance lovely! I'm sorry to hear that, it sounds really distressing and I hope you are doing well, and that the rest of the pregnancy goes well for you!!
