Hi. Has anyone ever got confused by the given weeks on clearblue digital like I am. I was supposed to be 3 weeks yesterday but the clearblue showed 3+ I was expecting 2-3 and now my husband is mad at me. Is my hcg that high or?

What do you mean by 3 weeks? When was/is your period due? And why is he mad?

Sunshineclouds11 · 12/08/2023 18:50

I don't understand either

TeaKitten · 12/08/2023 18:50

Also if you were 3 weeks yesterday, why would it not say 3+?

dementedpixie · 12/08/2023 18:51

You add 2 weeks to whatever the digital test says making you 5+ weeks.

Why would he be mad at you?

PickledScrump · 12/08/2023 18:53

As per your other post you calculate your pregnancy from your last period which would put at at 4 weeks and 4 days today. Clearblue is from conception, many things can affect it. You may have ovulated earlier or you may have higher levels of hcg.

The bigger issue I see here is why would your husband be mad at you?

My last period was 11 July dear

He thinks I'm cheating because he was expecting 2-3 weeks.

Why was he expecting 2-3 weeks when you are not 2-3 weeks? You are 3+ weeks and that’s what you got. If he thinks you are cheating now then it’s worth remembering you don’t need to go through with this pregnancy if you don’t want to. Your relationship is already a none starter.

PickledScrump · 12/08/2023 19:53

@00059g yes your last period was 11th July which makes you 4 weeks and 4 days pregnant as all pregnancies are dated from your last period until you have your dating scan. The clearblue conception indicators are not a medical device and only give you a rough estimate, they are not exact. If he is mad at you about that you need to really sit down and think about your relationship as this sounds like some abusive behaviour

Surroundedbyfools · 12/08/2023 20:02

I wouldn’t worry to much I don’t think these tests r very accurate. I once tested the same sample with 2 and they came up different weeks x

If this is the 1st date of your last period then that puts you at 4 weeks 4 days as pregnancy is dated from your period until you get your dating scan.

The test dates you from conception and then you add 2 weeks to get how pregnant you are. They aren't exact and may not be super accurate.

faban · 12/08/2023 21:47

He thinks your cheating because of this?! This really dosent sound like a healthy relationship. are you okay?

faban · 12/08/2023 21:47

You're

Motherofalittledragon · 12/08/2023 22:11

Congratulations, but god he doesn't sound like a keeper of a bf.

00059g · 12/08/2023 23:27

I think it is because he was away for a while. Then he came back last month on the 21st

00059g · 12/08/2023 23:28

My question exactly

OP posts:
Crzy · 13/08/2023 03:00

Its not a medical test it’s not meant to be exact and at 4 weeks 4 days you’d be closer to 3+ anyway but do consider if you could deal with this attitude about anything else in future as tbh the last thing you need is accusations everytime he’s left you alone for awhile to do whatever he needs to do especially if any future children are involved you don’t need the added stress and he’s in for a shock if he thinks anything can date you down to the exact day even scans can vary slightly depending on growth levels

twoandcooplease · 13/08/2023 05:33

Worrying op. Domestic abuse often begins in pregnancy
You could always have a private scan when you're a bit further on to confirm dates but it'll be a few weeks of living with his mood until then so I'd suggest trying to resolve this another way. You shouldn't have to prove anything he should trust you.
Tell him to read the box leaflet. Which IIRC on a digital says the test dates back 2 weeks and gives week of conception

twoandcooplease · 13/08/2023 05:37

Yes this is what I thought

@PickledScrump
I second this, thanks for explaining to OP.

Congratulations!
Also slightly concerning that your husband ‘mad’ it sounds as though there could be a lack of trust? But I don’t like to assume so please expand on this.

It's not always accurate.

Someone I know took multiple tests that showed she was 7 weeks, when in fact she was only 4 weeks.

If you are worried, call the early pregnancy unit, they might give you an early scan and alleviate your worries/fears.

No pregnancy test can "show that you're 7 weeks". The categories are not quite 4 weeks, 4-5 weeks and 5 weeks or more.

But yes, of course they can be wrong. The normal range of hcg in the first few weeks is very, very wide, and everything from the time of day to how much water you've drunk recently affects how they read. The disclaimer is clear that they are not definitive and are effectively just for fun.

ThomasinaLivesHere · 13/08/2023 20:43

This doesn’t sound healthy. If my partner was away he wouldn’t accuse me of cheating for something like this. Surely if you trust your partner you’d think the test wasn’t accurate.
