Crazy sore nipples from 12 weeks

Hi,

i’m 16 weeks pregnant and thankfully I’ve been relatively light on symptoms compared to others except for boob tenderness and crazy nipple pain. It feels like they’ve been stung or on fire for 20 mins at a time-ish and it actually takes my breath away. I can’t find any pattern in what causes it - tends to be one or two times a day.
has anyone else experienced this and any potential relief other than to wait it out?

My boobs were so sore around this time - especially in the evening after having worn a bra all day. I just waited it out I’m afraid 😞

Thank you, I feel like I can deal with general boobs soreness, I just can’t be dealing with the nipple burn hahaha

Yes I had this it reminded me of being 11 growing boobs for the first time. It didn't last the whole pregnancy though. Xx

My sister in law told me if you get itchy nipples or the burning sensation then put cabbage leaves in your bra thought she was joking but tried it and it worked

Is it when youre cold or have just come out of the shower for example? When your nipples hurt, when you look at your nipple is there like White patch in the centre of it? If so, it could be basically Raynauds in the nipple.
I started getting this when I was about 5 weeks pregnant (in March) so was colder weather. I get it every so often now still when theres a change of temp, ie shower or change of clothing.
I've had raynauds forever in my hands and feet. Never in nipples before pregnancy though.
When you Google it, it says its more common in women breastfeeding but does happen during pregnancy too.
Its agony.

Oh and to relieve the pain (if this is what you have) is get the nipple warm. Hold it in your hand for a bit. Cover it with an extra layer (I used to put a glove down my top when was home oc). The nipple with go pink because the bloods back in there and will no longer be in agony. Will be sensitive for a bit though.

Thanks everyone for your advice, the strange thing is it’s not even when I’m cold or if something is rubbing on them, I’ve had I when I’ve been laid in bed at night! I will try and see if warming them up (lol) helps anyway

I had this, it was awful.

I changed bras to something alot more comfy and doubled up on it so the area stays warm. I'm convinced it is nipple vasospasm.

However, it got so bad I was referred to the breast clinic. They eventually did an ultrasound and said they were some very small benin cysts, but nothing of concern, although this may be the cause of the pain but they are not sure.

I'm not sure what is causing the pain but I deal with them by keeping them warm, using a super soft but padded bra and doubling up on bra so I'm not tempted to itch. I also use aveeno cream on them.
